Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacie Pence.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lacie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Hi everyone! I’m a professional makeup artist based in San Diego. Makeup has always been a love of mine and as soon as I graduated high school, I wanted to further my passion and attended the makeup program at Bellus Academy. There is where I learned the basics of makeup, but my three years at Sephora is where my skills really took off! Working at Sephora, you never knew what the client was going to end up in your chair. I learned what products and textures looked good on each specific person, and best of all making women and men feel the absolute best version of themselves. After my three years at Sephora, I wanted to better myself as an artist so I left to focus on myself and my business. I specialize in bridal and special event makeup, but also have a love for special fx and all things spooky. I hope this inspires any of you to work hard for love and never stop challenging yourself!!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course, it has been hard! I had a few loyal clients when I left Sephora, but there were definitely some slow months where I was thinking “did I make the right decision?”

Always stay busy whether it be networking with other hair stylists, photographers, or just posting some makeup looks on Instagram of your friends and family. Just know that you did this for a reason and nothing worth having comes easy.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
So, as I mentioned before, I specialize in bridal and special event makeup. There’s something about being apart of someone’s wedding day that is so magical. I think my personality sets me apart from others because if I’ve done your makeup before even once, you’ll feel like you’ve known me your whole life. I get to know everyone that sits in my chair and ask them what makes them feel the most beautiful and sexy.

Who have you been inspired by?
My BFF Shelby and my mom. As soon as I’m done with a clients makeup, I, of course, take after photos. And you better believe those are the first two people I send those photos too because they are going to hype me up and tell me how amazing I did. My mom is always so proud that people come to ME, HER DAUGHTER, to get their makeup done and is so quick to show off my work to her friends and co-workers.
