Today we’d like to introduce you to Liliha Rieck.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Liliha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started blogging just over three years ago. Like most, it started as a hobby and then about a year later I started obtaining brand deals which was super exciting! The next year, I focused on growing my blog and developing more a look at it also while growing my Instagram audience. I definitely ran into bumps and “failures” along the way. In the end, I think the only way to really learn and grow is by going through those rough times and reflecting on what would’ve been the better choice, Three years later, here I am. I am still a lifestyle blogger and have been collaborating with amazing brands! I absolutely love content creating and one day, I do hope to be able to do it full time. But for now, I feel blessed with my two jobs outside of blogging. I am currently a marketing coordinator at a special event decorating company in San Diego and I am also a bartender at night, which is a passion and so much fun! I’m so SO grateful for the opportunities that I have been given and for every single person that I’ve worked with thus far. I’m super excited to see what 2020 holds.
Has it been a smooth road?
Oh boy. Smooth road? DEFINITELY NOT! I’ve run into so much that I never thought I would ever deal with. One struggle was starting an LLC when I was not prepared at all and barely had any time to invest in it. I think that I just got way too ahead of myself and that’s ok! I definitely learned that I needed to be way less reactionary and a bit more realistic with myself. I’ve also struggled with finding a balance with work and family time. My family, my husband and my fur babies mean absolutely everything to me. This year has really challenged me to take a good look at what I was spending my time on and then making adjustments so that my valuable time with my husband and family was not compromised.
I really encourage young women (and men) to shoot for the stars but also be realistic. Living in a digital world is a pro and a con. We spend so much time looking at our screens and forgetting to pay attention to our loved ones. Your family is forever, social media is not. Also, I highly suggest to set a 6-month plan. Ask yourself, “where do you want to be in six months” and then strategically set a realistic plan in action and stick to it.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
Well, I work as a Marketing Coordinator at a special event decorating company in San Diego. I really specialize and having a passion for social media marketing and content creation. Photography has been something I’ve loved since I was in junior high school. Content creating really gives me and avenue to express myself and show my “work”.
I love it. I do it every day and it gives me so much joy and excitement.
I’m proud that I’ve truly gone from the bottom up. I started not knowing anything about anything of social media and now I specialize in it. I pride myself on learning all these social media hacks on my own and now I’ve been able to do it full time in the corporate world as well as just my own channels.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
I have SO many! My favorite apps include Lightroom CC, Unfold, Tezza, InShot, Ove, KiraKira, PicsArt and Instagram, of course!
My favorite books are always mysteries. The Great Gatsby is my all-time favorite book but lately, I’ve really been into mysteries. Then She Was Gone has been a recent addiction.
My favorite podcast of all time is “The Skinny Confidential: Him & Her”.
One of my favorite online tools has been Canva. I can create any graphic design, thumbnail or anything on Canva.
