Today we’d like to introduce you to Lita Ramirez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lita. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Working at various recreation centers & dance studios many parents encouraged me to open up my own place. They gave me the confidence, inspiration & encouragement to invest in space of my own. I owe a great deal of where I am today to my community for believing in me & giving me the courage to step out in faith. I wanted a place to merge my passions in life- God, family & the arts. I want our academy to feel comfortable, at home, like a big family where we have crazy fun joyful experiences of learning & growth. I prayed many times & still continue to pray to God to show me & use me for my community, to bring the beauty of the arts into families lives & creating lasting memories. We started in 2013 & I feel we still have much to learn & grow from in Gods timing. I have a little small space with big dreams & possibilities I want to share with all. Kind of like me casa sub casa- make yourself at home, I enjoy teaching & meeting families, praying for them, as I lay my head down for the night, Their children bring me great joy & they are the reason I keep going their smiles, the beauty of seeing parents excitement at their child’s talent. Making their child shine is what we want to give them- the opportunities to grow.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not smooth at all. Many times crying will I make it, what am I doing, it’s the faith that God is my provider will see me & help me thru this that keeps me going. Finances are a struggle as I want a bigger place & better equipment to provide quality classes to the community.
My advice to other women-Keep the faith- God gave you the idea- think big, go big, be patient, don’t give up, journal ideas, brainstorm, just because it didn’t work out the first time don’t give up on it. think of easy to improve for next time. Timing is everything be patient & wait for the right timing
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Selah Groove Creative Arts & Enrichment academy – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
We are a creative arts & enrichment academy. We teach dance-ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, cheer, hula, gymnastics, taekwondo, cooking, sewing, jewelry, crafts, kids camp, etiquette classes & music. We are known for being a faith-based academy, reasonable cost & quality classes. I believe families see the passion & heart we have for them.
I’m most proud of our princess, girl time & girl club classes we have. These are the classes we instruct on life lessons, growing up as a girl, tween. We teach on friendship. Frenemies, bullying, leadership, family & serving in their community. We are building the next generation of ladies for our world.
What sets us apart from others I believe would be that we are a faith-based academy & we offer so much. We give military discounts, financial aid & raffle off free classes to the community. Families see our heart, dedication, commitment to their children & them. They see how we are always trying to be better for them not for us. It’s about the families that come to us providing what they need/want.
Who have you been inspired by?
The board of woman at CWEN- Danna Gresh, & Lisa Lazier all inspire me. I would love to meet Danna & Lisa one day!
These women are all godly women, great thinkers, leaders & have similar passions as I do.
