Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Jimenez.
Lori, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story started when I was 11 years old. I was always having pain in my knees and we chalked it up to growing pains. Some days were better than others, but I was always self-conscious of limping or letting my friends know about my leg pain. Some days were awful and I couldn’t walk. When I was 16, I was diagnosed with a form of arthritis called Ankylosing Spondylitis. It’s an autoimmune disease that can affect your joints and spine.
Most of my life, I was on some sort of pain reliever, sometimes just Advil, other times harder medications that were given via a 2-hour infusion. I knew being on these medications was hard on my organs and was always searching for a natural alternative. I just felt I was too young to be on such harsh medications. My search for a natural alternative fell short. Dealing with chronic pain was rough too because I loved sports and being active.
Fast forward to 2014, I was introduced to doTERRA’s essential oils and supplements. I was super skeptical since I hadn’t gotten relief from anything natural. However with the guidance of a long-time friend and my now mentor, Jennifer Shaw, I am celebrating five years of being medication free!!! I can’t tell you how much this company has changed my life!
Career-wise, I was a happy graphic designer, I’ve always had a passion for art and love getting to express my creative side. However, sometimes the least expected path is the one you take. I started slowly helping people with their health and happiness using doTERRA essential oils. It then turned into a full-time business, well I say full time, but I’m able to be there for my kids, create a day around what I want to do, travel and just enjoy being my own boss. I’m so grateful I still get to utilize my artistic talents for my business and our doTERRA team.
I have such a soft spot for helping those with their health because I struggled so long myself. It gives me the greatest joy showing people that they can live a life not dependent on medications, toxic cleaning products and other harmful chemicals. They can live a life of joy and happiness.
Teaching women about time and financial freedom through their own doTERRA business has also been a huge blessing. I now know the reason for my struggles with arthritis, it has lead me here, this moment, exactly where I am supposed to be.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In the beginning of my business, I wasn’t confident. I was nervous to tell people I was helping people with essential oils. I was nervous because some people looked down on network marketing. The thing that changed everything was when I dove into personal development and worked on my mindset, everything shifted.
I always joke that doTERRA is a personal development company with a compensation plan! It’s true, my confidence in myself grew leaps and bounds. I was now so grateful and proud of this company and that’s when customers and other business partners were attracted to me. It’s amazing how that works out.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lets Get Essential – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I partner with the largest health and wellness company in the world, doTERRA 🙂 They are known for their essential oils but they really are a healthy lifestyle company. I have the best job in the world, I get to help people with their health and happiness using doTERRA essential oils and products.
I meet with people one on one, over the phone, via text or in person and find out what their health concerns are and how these beautiful oils can help them. I guess you could say I’m their oil guide for life. My goal is to empower them to live a happy and healthy life, naturally.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Absolutely, dealing with my own hardships with my arthritis has given me empathy. I really care about people and I want to see them living their best life.
