Life and Work with Nay Richards

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nay Richards.

Nay, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Back in Thailand, 8 years ago, that’s when I discovered that I have a gift with makeup. The first year of my journey was confusing because I didn’t know if I wanted to this professionally or just as a hobby. So, I decided to take them to the next level and go for it. I went to makeup school and did the workshop here and there. Then, my second year, I started working as a makeup artist. Then, I started working with clients, alongside with my full-time job. My makeup back in Thailand is all kinds of style such as graduation event, fashion, wedding and beauty pageants. I then moved to the U.S. My first year was a struggle then, my second I saw improvement. And now, here I am, even though I still have a long way to go. I am also a beauty and lifestyle Vlogger on YouTube, as well as Facebook. I have two pages on Facebook, but my makeup page is “Beautiyou by Nay”. I have over 10k followers with the two pages combined.

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely was not a smooth ride. Especially when there are so many competitors. I struggled the most when I was when I moved to the US. There were so many factors in my struggle: culture, language, society, networking. I did not know where to begin. If I can give some advice to young girls starting in the business who want to pursue their makeup dreams is go for it! Know your goals and take it seriously! It won’t be easy, but you can do it.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Beautiyou by Nay – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Well, I do all styles of makeup, but I’m known for bold, dramatic, full glam makeup. I’m so proud to be where I am right now. Especially as a Thai person and having to deal with the language barrier. Also, recently my makeup photo was featured on ABC News… that was quite exciting! What sets me apart from others? Definitely my style. I take the best of both worlds. Asian flair… light and powerful eye-catching style paired with my vibrant energy.

Who have you been inspired by?
My mom is definitely the person that inspired me. She is strong, kind, and never gave up on any obstacle.
