Life and Work with Olivia Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Lee.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Olivia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been more on the artsy side, I knew after high school I wanted to do something that had to do with fashion or beauty. I love that we’re able to show who we are through style. Hair specifically! there is something about being able to change your hair that is so powerful. I went to beauty school at San Diego City College and shortly after that I moved to San Francisco.

It was a bumpy road until I ended up getting an awesome position at Revamp Salon, I became part of an awesome salon family that taught me so much, I was very lucky to find Revamp in the very beginning of my career I learned so much not only about hair but about life as well. After a few years in SF I moved back to San Diego, and now I feel like I’m at the point of my career where I’m really just perfecting my craft and finding who I am as a Hairstylist.

Has it been a smooth road?
I’m sure many of you have had some interesting salon experiences, bad and good! Hairstylist are all very unique people some amazing and some a little too egotistical. I luckily have work in some great salons where the managers hand pick very specific people that get along with each other. Of course I’ve worked with some difficult people but I knew there are so many salons out there that I don’t have to stay at a job where I’m not thrilled to go to everyday.
So my best advice to any new hairstylist or to anyone is to not feel stuck at your job, If you hate going to work it’s not for you! you have to love what you do!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with HairByOliviaAlexandra – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in Highlights, Balayage and styling. I love to collaborate and connect with my clients, listening is key. I always do an extensive consultation with my clients, I understand hair is a huge part of someone’s life and that it can be totally nerve racking trusting a stranger to cut or dye your hair, but if you both can clearly communicate what you’re looking for and the client can understand the process then the client should be able to leave the salon with their dream hair. My goal is to have women leave with a new confidence.

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I think women can rule the world if we all support each other! women are well positioned for anything they want to do.
