Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Dettmann.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sarah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been in Real Estate as long as I can remember. I studied appraisal where I grew up in Canada and worked for a large commercial Real Estate group after graduating. I eventually made my way to America, where I struggled through a time of homelessness and finding work as an immigrant, and continued to pursue Real Estate again in multiple different capacities. Nothing felt right until I found and fell in love with the investment niche. I ran the Operations for another local investment company, and then went independent at the beginning of 2019 and haven’t looked back since!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not! There have been hurdles along the way, whether that be properties that have unforeseen issues, people who do not believe in you or just maintaining work-life balance. My biggest advice for someone just getting started is to find a mentor. And for those struggling through, as long as you are doing what you love and believe in yourself, then everything else will fall into place!
Please tell us about Sierra Peak Holdings, LLC and Saving San Diego Home Buyers.
I am a Real Estate Investor, and we operate under the brand of Saving San Diego because we provide options to help homeowners get out of their homes if they are facing distressed situations.. In addition to ‘saving’ homeowners, I am also very proud that we give back to our Veteran community who risk their lives every day to ‘save’ and protect our freedom.
Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
As a young, female leader, I often face doubt or skepticism from people who make rash judgments before getting to know me. I’ve learned that if I just focus on my business and my team, that it doesn’t matter what other people think.
