Life & Work with Sarah Dupree of Temecula Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Dupree.

Hi Sarah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It all started, as many great businesses do, over a glass of wine. Kristin and I stopped at a wine bar after a networking event. As we sat there chatting about what we do, I happily exclaimed, “You complete me!” She didn’t run away, so I explained: At the time, I was about a year into my business as a personal brand photographer. People were LOVING their pictures and getting tremendous feedback and engagement whenever they posted them. But they were just too busy to continue posting them every single day. At this same time, Kristin was working at a company as a social media manager. She’d been working in social media marketing for over a decade at this point – think back to MySpace days. And while she loves her job, she didn’t feel challenged creatively and was forced to use stock images to complete the content she created. Being creative in this space is limiting at best! She challenged my beliefs that it had to be written by the person it was about in order for content to be truly authentic. She claimed that she could write content that was true to each clients’ unique voice! After that, we partnered to create Unplug and have never looked back. Today, we’re working with small business owners and entrepreneurs to help them unplug from social media while still taking advantage of the amazing benefits this powerful advertising platform has to offer. We work with clients on a monthly basis to create engaging content that is unique to their brand image and voice, and then we post that content every day at their peak times across a range of platforms. This content includes both professional brand photography and expertly curated copy. We also interact with our clients on a daily basis so that their content can be seen by more of the right people. What we provide is the full package!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Just when we were about to take off, Covid-19 took center stage. We had to put everything on hold for a couple of months because one of our packages’ main pieces is personal brand photography. We tried everything to reincorporate this crucial element back into our business: virtual sessions, stock photography… We brainstormed and ideated until there was nothing left. Just then, restrictions were lifted on outdoor photography! As long as our sessions could remain outside, we were back! And with so many businesses following this same thought process, we could utilize restaurants, downtown areas, and so much more for these shoots! Once we got back out there, we realized that many other businesses were struggling to find creative solutions. So now, we’re back in full swing while making sure to take necessary precautions. We’re so thankful that we offer online services that help other businesses exist in a time when real-life social interactions are restricted. We’re able to help these businesses stay social and safe!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
What truly sets us apart from other social media marketing agencies is that we’ve combined personal brand photography with social media management. We create an online presence for our clients that is professional, unique, and truly authentic to their brand’s vision. They don’t have to be restricted by stock imagery that can be used by anyone, nor do they take away from their own business in order to create a presence on social media. They can continue focusing on growing their businesses and trust that we will make sure that the right people are seeing their message and that their public image is polished and relatable.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always creative. I used to love to draw, color, and create. So when I went to college, I majored in Advertising, hoping to someday become creative in the advertising world. But the world back then didn’t look like the world today. Advertising on the Internet was still mostly mysterious. The only form of online advertising back then was annoying pop-up ads and spammy emails. While the world began to embrace social media, advertising evolved. I’m so happy that my experience has guided me through these ever-changing mediums! To this day, I still get to do what I love – create, build, and think outside the box.
