Today we’d like to introduce you to Suzette Zavala.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started when I was nineteen years old after praying the rosary and responding to the vision and call that I received to become a Religious Nun in the Roman Catholic Church. This spiritual experience and vision pushed me to explore the spiritual realm and also empowered my self-healing journey. It brought me closer to the path of awareness (connection with spirit/god) and the development of my intuitive healing gifts. I became a Carmelite Nun but after six years of discernment and living the Religious Life, I knew that Spirit was asking me to break this contract; I believed that it was time for me to embark on a new journey outside of the Convent and Church but at the time was unaware of how I was to get there.
Five years have passed since I left the Religious life. Within that time, I opened myself up to Spirit and alternative holistic energy healing modalities, as well as other religious practices that I never imagined I’d discover. I experienced the healing effects of Crystal Healing, Reiki, and Past Life Regressions. I also opened up to different spiritual teachings like Buddhism, Taoism, and Native American Shamanism. All of these new healing experiences and philosophies empowered me so I decided to get certified as an energy healing practitioner myself.
In the beginning, this was a personal ambition and interest. To learn the modalities and self-heal by doing inner spiritual work. I wasn’t trying to make it into a career. However, as I shared my experiences and practiced on friends and family, word spread out and so did my desire to be of service to others. I was helping individuals heal trauma by working with spiritual energies with the intent of clearing, restoring, and balancing their energy fields. I understood that it was the energy work that moved the problem out of the darkness and into the light; transforming and allowing for a shift of consciousness and self-empowerment to take place within. Therefore, I continued my studies and became certified as a Sacred Transformations® Level I and II Five Element Reiki Energy Healing Practitioner. Which then led me to get certified as an Intuitive Master, certified as a Level I Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique® Practitioner, and lastly as an Integrated Energy Therapy® Practitioner.
My innate desire to help others and share my connection with Spirit is what allowed me to open my heart and share my gifts with others. And how I discerned and determined that being a Healer (service to others) was my true vocation and call since my first spiritual encounter at the age of 19.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This journey has not been easy! Coming from a first-generation Mexican American immigrant family, a lot of my spiritual ambitions and endeavors alienated me from friends and some family members. My parents came to the USA to live the “American Dream,” and my choice to be an alternative healer doesn’t really fit that dream. I come from a strong Roman Catholic family with relatives also living as consecrated religious. My family has a lot of ancestors who died as “Cristeros” during the conflict and religious war against the anticlericalism of the Mexican government in the early 1900s. Therefore, fear was a constant obstacle for me. I was afraid of losing my family and support system if I was to reveal to them that I was leaving the Church. Even more, I realized that my own personal challenges to accept and/or “de-program” from instilled belief systems like Catholicism was really personal and lonely. I constantly had emotional existential breakdowns and didn’t really have anyone to lean on in this transition in my life. Let alone understand the cultural and religious issues I was facing. However, my desire to grow, to be transparent and authentic and my faith is what helped me push through.
My advice for other young women is to trust in yourselves and your intuition. Challenging and questioning your reality is an important self-realization process. And pursuing your mission/purpose in life is a personal journey and not a destination. It is an ongoing path of introspection. Everyone may have different challenges but essentially obstacles shape us and give us insight into ourselves. I am glad to say that I am in a better place now and all I really needed was to find my voice and accept myself first, before expecting other people to accept or understand me. Dance to the beat of your own drum!
Please tell us about your work.
I am a certified alternative energy healing practitioner. I provide energy healing sessions as well as quantum healing hypnosis sessions (past life regressions). I am known for my vast knowledge of esoteric concepts and metaphysical healing. As well as learned topics about extra-terrestrial life and Gnosticism.
What sets me and my practice apart from others is my archetypal dynamic as a “Wounded Healer” practitioner. I relate, help, and provide services to a large population of Latina women as well as other diverse men and women, who also desire to heal and realign their beliefs and narratives (just as I have). Our families create the foundation of our conditioning and therefore can be filled with (unintentional) limiting beliefs that have been passed down. I provide confidential sessions to culturally diverse clients who want to heal limiting beliefs with energy healing.
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well-positioned for?
I believe that the sky is the limit when it comes to opportunities for women. Starting with doing things that we love. There is nothing more empowering than doing what you love, even if it seems small or “non-important.” As women, we should really step away from labels that are imposed on us, as well as the labels that we feel compelled to settle for. There is no position that fits just one woman, in fact, there are so many and even more that we have not discovered!
