Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Turnure.
Tara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve spent the last 10 years happily working in La La Land as a model, TV Host and actress. Walking the red carpet, working the sidelines for Fox Sports, shooting campaigns – you name it! Then, a chapter of NEW came along. After giving birth to the love of my life, Henry, I REALLY struggled with finding my new identity. I felt guilty for still wanting to work, having my own personal goals/aspirations, for hating my post-pregnancy body, and felt so much pressure to stay home with my baby. After two years of searching, I’ve yet to answer all my questions BUT I have come to a place where I’ve figured out a way to be both a MAMA and a MODEL – some days more gracefully than others. This pursuit is what inspired me to create The Model Mama. A platform that connects and empowers Modern Mamas, discusses the transition to motherhood and encourages women to be the best version of themselves. I’m on a mission is to shed light on this journey we’re all on of finding balance, self-love, and conquering that “Mom Guilt.
Has it been a smooth road?
Owning my own business and being in charge of creating all my own content is the culmination of all the different careers and life experiences I’ve had over the past ten years. I didn’t always know it at the time, but I truly believe founding The Model Mama was my calling all along. But it has absolutely been a really bumpy journey getting to this stage.
I’ve always been a believer in saying, “yes” to new experiences and new challenges and being “ok” with figuring it out along the way. If I could give my 20-year old self advice, it would be to trust your instincts, never apologize for who you are or where you came from, work hard now and play later. Understand the importance of patience and know that the first impression is everything! Pay attention to details. Always have a fresh manicure. Always embody an attitude of gratitude. Be nice to yourself and know the POWER of a positive pep talk. Make this part of your daily routine because what you think is what you become! Cheers babes enjoy the journey!
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a Mama, Model, TV Host, and the founder of The Model Mama. The Model Mama is a positive lifestyle, fashion blog about the transition to Motherhood. I dreamt of curating a platform that empowers women to be the very best version of themselves and that’s exactly how The Model Mama came to be. A destination that oozes style, sophistication, and positivity paired with humor, authenticity, and inspiration. A collision of fashion, beauty, healthy living, and real-life stories about the raw and beautiful truth of Mommyhood.
I also have a talk show called, The Model Mama Show. I interview entrepreneurial moms in various industries. We discuss their unique tips and tricks for creating successful businesses, how they juggle motherhood and their advice for transitioning to Mommyhood. This is absolutely my favorite part of my platform. I love telling the story of successful Mamas – in hopes to inspire others. My goal is to give our audience new tools for navigating their own journey. In my mind, life is about building community, and I love being a cheerleader and a voice for female entrepreneurs.
