Life and Work with Tiffany Yang

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Yang.

Tiffany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In college, I was initially studying Computer Information Studies with a minor in Communications. As I continue my college career, I began falling in love with studying media which lead me to ditch my acceptance major and minor to go full force into Mass Media studies. With pursuing media, I fell in love with the art of content marketing. I had my first taste of content marketing while managing and photographing for my sister’s fashion blog. It was quite the experience, as she was a mother of two little fashionistas as well. We would stop practically anywhere for photos. I also had an administrative position in my hometown and convinced my boss to let me try out social media marketing to boost sales and increase our digital audience locally. Then, I realized digital marketing was my passion.

Right after college, I pursued digital marketing, which landed me a job at a local paper to help launch their digital agency. At that point, I knew this is what I was meant to be doing. I have helped several local brands build awareness and loyal customers all through digital marketing. And then, that finally brings me to where I am today – a full-time marketing and events coordinator at a local non-profit and a micro Instagram Influencer!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It wasn’t always a smooth road. I watched my sister decide to stop blogging and focus on her motherly duties which were even more inspiring as she went on to have a third daughter and is a superhuman dance mom! After seeing how much time my sister put towards her blog and her choice to walk away, I began to question my career path. Even working at a digital agency, I felt like I was always having to prove myself to clients until I had a client that really just believed in me and let me have my creative freedom.

My advice is to ALWAYS get back up and follow your gut. So many times, I had clients shut me down or consistently question my every strategy like I was a complete joke trying to sell them on ‘professional Facebooking/Instagramming.’ It was all an experience that pushed me to never settle for less. Don’t ever feel bad leaving a position for more growth – we take risks for growth and without risks, there would be no growth. Embrace every minute of busy-ness.

I find myself working 9-10 hours in the office and working 4-5 hours at home on my other freelance and personal creative projects with brands. Never give up and find something that fulfills you. Easier said than done, but it will feel right! I don’t even question if I’m doing what I should be because I know I am and it feels good to busy myself with creative projects and clients that support me as much as I support them.

Keep growing and don’t be scared of change because it’s changing that pushes our limits and shows us what we are capable of!

Please tell us about Tiffany Evanna.
I am a marketing and events coordinator at a local non-profit that is a treatment center for at-risk and special needs youth. This job entails fundraising, digital marketing, community outreach and event planning. I am known for my creative content marketing. I am also a contributor to a local events blog in my hometown and are working closely with local brands to help build awareness about their story and mission. I believe every brand has a story and there is a huge audience out there waiting to hear it!

I am always happy to do pro-bono work for brands that I believe have a strong mission and empower their loyal fans!

Locally, I am known for my event content marketing, restaurant marketing and a social media guru. I work closely with my local chamber of commerce to bring together young professionals to connect and collaborate to reach our personal and career goals.

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I think women are positioned for building awareness about what they believe in. We have been doing it for how long now? Let’s take our platform to the next level, find a nonprofit or mission YOU believe in besides fashion, beauty, and travel – and share it with the world because we can empower each other, but why not also empower those who don’t have a voice?
