Life & Work with Alyssa Boynton of North County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Boynton.

Hi Alyssa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I always dreamed of pursuing photography for my career, but discovered my passion for specifically wedding photography through my own “best day ever”! When my husband and I returned from our honeymoon, I knew I wanted to pivot my career and dive into the wedding world. I began assisting as many photographers as I could and found the most wonderful mentor and lifelong friend. Before I knew it, I felt confident to open my own business and serve my own couples, hoping to give back the same wonderful experience I had as a bride! 7 years later and I’m still “in love with love” capturing newly engaged couples and weddings. I have extended to maternity and family sessions, and just adore the continued connections with my clients and these happy moments in life!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Owning, running and continuing to run a business is hard work! Learning how to build from the ground up was a challenge, but continuing to carve out time to work ON the business, rather than IN the business will always be something that feels like a struggle.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Southern California-based wedding and family photographer. I’m most proud of creating images that not only help my couples to remember their wedding day but the FEELING and the joyful, vibrant moment in time. I pour my whole heart into giving the very best photography experience, so I’m proud of that too. I do my best to help my couples enjoy their wedding day, capture the moments that matter most, guide them into portraits that reflect them as a couple and translate into works of art- that will ultimately hang on the walls in their home and fill treasured albums to smile and look back on.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
It’s already trending, but I see so many more elopements on the horizon. It’s becoming easier for couples to do exactly what they want to do for their wedding ceremony and celebration than what is expected of them, and I LOVE that!
