Today we’d like to introduce you to Au Revoir Heart.
Hello Au Revoir Heart, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Dane Mora, I’m a 26-year-old writer/musician from Southern California. I got my start in music when I was a kid, playing at my church, doing the whole worship team thing. Over the years I began to develop a love for writing songs, performing, and showcasing my own music to my friends than in a church so I eventually created my current project “Au Revoir Heart”.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has definitely not been smooth but I didn’t really expect it to be. As a writer, there’s constant pressure to be “better than before” which can be a pretty slippery slope for one’s mental health. Organizing a live band can be pretty hectic. It’s hard finding people who want the same things as you as far as musical career goals go.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m known for creating a conceptual neo-psychedelic music group named “Au Revoir Heart”. I think our live performances and my creation of our mascot/muse “Cheeky”, have been proud moments for me. I think what sets my music apart is the world-building that goes on within the writing. Almost everything I release follows a fantasy story I’ve written. I think it’s giving listeners the opportunity to uniquely visualize “Cheeky’s” world from their own perspective, based off of the sounds and imagery I’m showing them, which ends up giving opportunity to creating whole new piece of art in the listener’s brain that is personal to them.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The music industry is always changing and not always in the best ways. I think it’s going to constantly shift but I think it’s important to be aware of these shifts and to be open to changes in taste and new sounds or you’re gonna get left in the dust.
