Life & Work with Chase Wilsey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Wilsey.

Hi Chase, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The Fighter’s Fight Foundation is a breast cancer charity that has the mission to provide memorable experiences to the many impacted families standing toe-to-toe with this difficult disease. The charity is family-based and in loving memory of my Aunt, Kristi Malone-Bullock, who fought breast cancer for over three years until her passing on January 15th, 2020. Her father Larry began calling her Rocky as her constant determination and positive attitude resembled that of a champion. The name of the charity came from the Rocky movie quote, “If this is something you wanna do, and if this is something you gotta do, then you do it. Fighters fight.” A mother, aunt, sister, and friend to so many of us, she is a loving spirit we will never forget. The growth of our charity has been phenomenal as we started in 2020 and have now been able to serve many deserving women battling breast cancer through experiences that have included dinner delivery, Padres games, Thanksgiving dinner, and our beloved Christmas experience. For the Christmas experience, we provide a live tree, decorations, and presents for the family.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The charity started during Covid which made it difficult to raise funds as events largely weren’t allowed in 2020. We were able to attract donations as we started offering a free t-shirt as gift for our donors. This led to new donors and helped build brand awareness during a difficult time. Since then, we have added sweatshirts and started live events in 2021 with our first annual golf tournament. It was an awesome experience as we had 80 golfers and 18 hole sponsors. We look forward to seeing how the golf tournament grows in year 2.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As President and founder of the Fighter’s Fight Foundation, I run the day to day operations and have been able to create ways to raise money for the charity and connect with deserving women battling breast cancer. Many of our women come from a relationship we have built with UCSD Health social workers that connect us with those battling breast cancer. One of the things I am most proud of is the fact that I’ve been able to pull together friends and family that have been affected by breast cancer and give back to women that are battling the same disease that affected our loved ones.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Support is a vital part of our organization. We host yoga events, golf tournaments, and other fundraising opportunities annually to help spread awareness and raise funds for our grants. The best way for others to support us is to stay current on our events, come out to support us and/or tell friends and family about us. The more who know we are present and working in the San Diego community, the more opportunity the organization has to reach a family.
