Life & Work with Chrissy Hefner of Pacific Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chrissy Hefner.

Hi Chrissy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born on the Southside of Chicago, raised Irish Catholic. As a young child, I was always very aware of the energy around me. I was a very quiet, creative, intuitive only child, who had experienced some paranormal events. I was nicknamed “Spirit” by my friends as a child, bc I used to leave out offerings under the moonlight for Mother Nature, yet, I did not know why. I would see things (visions), and still do. I always had a fascination with spirituality, nature, the metaphysical, astrology, tarot, and music. My friends growing up would always tell me I was “psychic”.

Fast forward a decade or two later …& I ended up with a Degree in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Social Work. I worked in Adoption/Foster Care with the State of Illinois for a few years, then ended up at an Alternative High School as a School Social Worker. At this point in time, my soul had been drained, I continued to give, give and give …I knew I needed a change, but didn’t know what. During my time as a school social worker (2013), I was introduced to yoga and reiki for the 1st time by my coworkers. I was immediately obsessed. In 2014, my Dad had suddenly passed…this lead to a catalyst of change for me. I ended up visiting San Diego on my Spring Break that year & fell in LOVE. Within a year, I ended up moving here. My family then decided to give me a nickname upon my departure from Chicago, and now call me “Moon Unit”.

Along my SD journey, I met new friends who were into wellness, spiritually and healing, which lead me to get certified in Reiki II as a practitioner. I continued with yoga classes & fell in love with sound healing. I have grown not only myself but so has my passion = Wellness & the Healing Arts. I have a FT job (I work downtown & am now in the corporate field) but continue to expand and practice my passion on the side = Prophecy of Prana. Prana is breath, life force energy … & it was also my Grandmother’s name, who was an immigrant from Europe. She did not speak much English, but we were able to communicate thru our eyes (telepathically) & smiles. She is one of my inspirations on this journey.

During this journey, I have also removed alcohol from my life and am almost 4yrs sober. I came to realize how much it did not align with my passion, or the person I knew I wanted to be. In the end, I want to help heal, inspire and assist people on their life journey’s, as I know we all need a little help these days. GOD BLESS.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life has definitely not been a smooth road, as I experienced numerous amounts of loss and grief as a young child and also the divorce of my parents. Life throws you many ups and downs. People pass away, schools change, jobs change, friends change and/or move away, relationships fail, however having grown up with faith and a very strong support system of family and friends, you just remember to breathe, take it day by day, & know you are being guided, as we are never truly alone. Always follow your intuition, the GPS of the soul.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Prophecy of Prana is my passion project. I provide one on one reiki healing services to not only humans, but some animals too. This service may include crystal healing, oracle/tarot readings, sound healing, intuitive messages, and/or aromatherapy.

I am most proud of this, as it was organically created and I continue to grow and learn/evolve each day. When I do provide sessions to others, I usually get amazing feedback which is usually aligned to their current situation and/or journey & they usually thank me for bringing some clarity into their life. Sometimes people just need to be heard, & take an hour or two for themselves out of their day to relax, heal, & JUST BE.

I think what sets me apart form others is my Psychology/Social Work background. I try to encompass compassion, empathy and life lessons/truths into my practice.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
From the moment I first visited San Diego I was memorized with it. Having the ocean, the cliffs, the mountains, & the desert so close is magical. Most people here are pretty care free and want to live a simple, sweet, & healthy life.

My least favorite thing currently about this city, is the driving/traffic, lack of ample parking ….the city keeps adding more homes and apartments (& the rent is cray) … I hope we don’t turn into a mini “LA”, where the city becomes too overcrowded, over ran with more homeless or becomes too superficial.
