Today we’d like to introduce you to Clarissa Castillo.
Hi Clarissa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My nail journey began when I was 25 years old—the age I finally admitted to myself that I wasn’t meant to spend my life in a cubicle. I wanted a career that allowed me to create, connect with people, and be fully myself.
In 2019, I enrolled in beauty school and began the nail program that December. Like so many people, my plans were delayed when COVID hit in March 2020. Despite the setbacks, I earned my nail license and in 2021 started working at a nail salon while I was four months pregnant with my son.
I stayed at that salon for three years but deep down I always knew I wanted to have my own studio. I would often tell my clients, “Lord willing, I’ll open my own nail studio on my 30th birthday.”
In January 2024, after many changes at the salon, I knew it was time to take a leap of faith. I found the perfect studio, and every detail came together better than I could have planned. The renovations finished ahead of schedule and on my 30th birthday, I opened the doors to Majesty Nail Studio.
Since opening, this studio has been such an incredible blessing, not only for me and my son, but also for so many of my clients. While it’s a place where women come to invest in self-care, it has become so much more than a nail studio. It’s become a place of soul care just as much as self-care, and I truly believe God has used this space for something far greater than I ever imagined. The relationships I’ve built over the years have been one of the greatest blessings of this journey, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
Looking back, I can see God’s hand in every delay, every closed door, and every step that led me here. Majesty Nail Studio isn’t just the fulfillment of a prayer, it’s a reminder that when we trust God’s timing, He often gives us more than we ever imagined.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Owning a small business hasn’t always been an easy journey. There have been slow seasons, challenges, and moments of uncertainty, but each one has taught me valuable lessons, strengthened my faith, and helped me grow both personally and professionally.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a nail technician specializing in gel services, including hard gel, builder gel, Gel-X, and custom nail art. I’m best known for helping my clients achieve long, strong, and healthy natural nails creating beautiful, durable manicures without compromising nail health.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love about San Diego is the beaches and outdoor activities. Whether you’re exploring on your own, spending time with your kids, or making memories with friends, there’s always something to do and somewhere beautiful to enjoy.
