Today we’d like to introduce you to Curtis & Laiana Bechtel.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
13 years ago when we were pregnant with our son we looked into having our baby shower catered and quickly discovered it was out of our budget. Curtis had always been passionate about cooking so he said he would do it and I could style the buffet. At our baby shower people were asking who did the food and we thought, “huh, we could do this!” After that our friends and family asked us to cater their events and it just snowballed from there. We’ve learned so much over the years and are so proud of what we’ve built.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our biggest challenge we’ve faced as a business and a couple is something so many people face in some way or another and that is addiction. 3 years ago our business, marriage and lives together were on the brink. We didn’t know if C&L was gonna survive in multiple capacities. Now Curtis is coming up on 2.5 years of recovery and things have been amazing! We’ve thrived and are able to be the best versions of C&L. Those years of struggle were really hard and bleak and now we have the rest of our lives to look forward to.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We’re a custom catering company. We love to create creative customized menus and displays that fit our clients dreams for their event. Curtis makes it taste good and Laiana makes it look good!
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Curtis remembers his little polish grandma making simple delicious meal filled with love.
Laiana remembers watching the movie Ratatouille in theaters and thinking “I want to do that!” We made ratatouille for something and I felt like I made it! I succeeded in doing what I wanted to do as a high schooler.
