Life & Work with Daniel Diaz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Diaz.

Hi Daniel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a 24 years old independent music artist. My love for music started in 2016 when the trap SoundCloud wave started. At that time making music was never on my mind but I really wanted to be a part of this music industry. I knew I could not sing so I started making graphic designs for artists (cover arts, clothing designs, etc…) but… designing was still not doing it for me. I wanted to feel more close to the music scene so I started editing concert recaps. At first, I started editing by downloading concert videos from big artists to edit them and show my final work to new artists and get more projects. My editing style was a unique style and it started getting attention from Mexican artists! So I got my first offer from a big celebrity in Mexico called “Hotspanish” with over 3 million subscribers on YouTube and all social medías… the offer was to go on a big Mexico tour with him, record everything and make recaps…. I accepted and went on tour for two months in Mexico! Being on that tour really opened more doors to me, more people was starting to know my name and like my unique editing style!

After a couple of months, I got a new offer with a bigger artist “Adriel Favela” the offer was to live with him, record every project he did and make recaps. I accepted, being with him really taught me a lot about this music industry, he was a big inspiration to me and a lot of people. But at that point, I was getting tired of editing and started to realize that editing was not really what I wanted to do for a living and for all my life… it was always just a hobby to feel close to the music scene… working with Adriel Favela for one year and a half helped me realize that what I really wanted to do was music… being with him on the studio, on project meetings and all the creative side of making music got me really motivated to start my own project. A couple of months after working with Adriel and finishing my projects, I went back home. Once I was home, I bought a simple home studio to try and create something, haha but at first I couldn’t do anything… I could not write lyrics for my music, come up with flows or anything… but that did not stopped me. I kept pushing until I got my first song idea called “me tienes mal” one of my best songs with over 500k+ plays produced by “macz morales”. This project was big and opened doors to me on the music industry. Till this day, I have over 16 songs and more to come. My last project was “dentro de un sueño” and it’s going super well! I got big plans for this year and hoped to make bigger numbers.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I switched from being a video producer to an artist, it was hard to get the “video producer” tag out of me. I wanted people to see me as an artist not as an editor. Being scared of people’s opinions on my music.

Getting money for my projects.

Depression and anxiety.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m known for being one of the new generation trap artists in Mexico! I’m proud of how far my music has gone and how much I’ve inspired kids to follow their dreams and fight for what they really want cause it’s not easy but for them is a motivation to watch me do it and get big positive results on my projects.

What matters most to you? Why?
Living a positive impact on people’s life and make them want to become a better person. My music and art talks about depresión and sad environments. People can feel related to my music so it’s my job to give them music to make them be a better version of themselves and show them the way.
