Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey into the world of holistic wellness started when I made the move to China 5 years ago. While in China, I learned so much about Traditional Chinese Medicine, herbalism, sound healing and yoga, and decided to dive headfirst into my studies. China was where my business, Sun and Spell Holistic Wellness, was born.
After returning to the US, I transitioned into the birth world, adding prenatal yoga teacher and birth doula services to my skill set.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say that I felt very called to do this work, so it was a smooth decision in that sense. The hardest part has been building the confidence to share my offerings with the public unabashedly. It was hard for me to put myself out there when I first started. Over the years, I have realized my own true potential and it has granted me the privilege of doing and sharing what I do with the community.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Professionally, I am an English Second Language instructor. I have my bachelor’s in English Writing and my master’s in Education with a focus in TESOL. This line of work has been beneficial to my role as a yoga teacher and doula in a number of ways. Through teaching English, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse demographic that has taught me so much about life and wellness. I have visited many countries, both physically and figuratively through the stories of my students. My students have opened my eyes to the world, and through them I have been able to connect with and relate to my clients on a deeper level.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I am a hobby collector! Whether it’s painting, crocheting, or gardening, I love learning and experimenting with different hobbies. My current favorite hobby is rollerskating. I love to take my bright pink skates to the boardwalk and skate along the beach for hours.
