Today we’d like to introduce you to Deleshia Horne.
Deleshia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
State2Statesk8off was established in 2017 by Fred & Deleshia Horne. The inspiration in starting the skate party was to bring something different. We wanted to highlight our skaters by showing off their talent, such as Skate Competition. The purpose of the skate competition is for the skaters to showcase their talents; we try to change it up each year. This year categories for the skate competition are: Best Crew Skate-Off, Best Female, Best Male.
We also wanted to acknowledge our skaters and skate community by establishing “Skater Choice Awards,” Where skaters in the skate community get an opportunity to vote for their peers in various categories:
Lifetime Achievement Award = a person who has made notable contribution to the skating community. Dedicating your life in the skate community. A person who is respected, honored, and who influenced by fellow skater/peers within the skate community.
Legendary Award = admire by many, someone who will be talked about many years to come. Someone who makes extraordinary efforts to put others before themselves. A person who is respected and honored by fellow skaters. A person who has been instrumental in bringing the skate community together.
Icon Award = A skater who is admired by many, someone who will be talked about for many years to come. A person who is respected honored by the skate community.
Rising Star Award = A skater who is growing quickly within the skate community admire by many skaters in the skate community. Likely to be successful in the skate community.
We offer some amazing unique things to our skate part such as; Skater’s Choice Awards, Annually Skate Competitions, Live Performances by R&B and RAP Artist such as; “Sugar Free”, Steven G, Ajah Princess of Compton, Adina Howard, and Kids’ Takeover Skate Party. Where the kids literally take over the entire skate party with adult supervision.
Lastly, we plan an annually Camping Trip for the skate community to become closer with each other and their families. We usually have about 150 plus in attendance. Great way for the kids and parents to fellowship with their peers.
We’re excited for our upcoming event September 15 thru September 17, 2023, which will be held at Skate Express Skating Rink 12356 Central Ave Chino, Ca 90710
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Keeping up with the trend of things but staying true to yourself. Staying on the course of authentic, quality, honesty, integrity, and ensuring we plan and organize great parties for the skate community.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been a current employee of Olive Crest for 9 years. My current position is Quality Improvement/Assurance Director for our Inland and Desert Region. Degree: MBA
