Today we’d like to introduce you to Dexter II & Cami Burnom.
Dexter II & Cami, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We like to think that this company was the inevitable result of two artists in need of an outlet. When the pandemic hit, we were amongst those who were directly affected by it. Fortunately, we were also amongst those who knew that waiting around wasn’t the winning move. We decided to create work for ourselves with what we had and we continue to do so. We started this company with the intention of making and sharing more art. We were always artists, but I think at some point we found ourselves distant from art and the creative process. When we allowed ourselves to return to that, we began to find all of this.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I think the biggest obstacle or series of obstacles we have faced stem mostly from starting our business in the thick of the pandemic. Starting a business is a feat within itself, but doing so while you’re in quarantine is nothing short of a gamble. That being said, I also believe the pandemic also provided my wife and I the opportunity to focus on the work we were most passionate about. Making art became a daily thing, so it was important that it also became a monetary one. Fortunately, we are both well versed in the world of social media and are also able to do most of our work within a digital space; so it was and has been the most organic way of reaching our audience.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are currently working on series MMXXI, which is the name of our 2021 collection of art. Within that series you’ll find our Bored Tarot and Borediac/Zodiac collection which have been fan favorites since they’ve been in development, but there is much more to love and much more to come.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I’d like to think happiness greets us warmest when we are creating something together. There is nothing more rewarding than building something bigger than yourself with someone you love.
