Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr Benjamin McEvoy.
Hi Dr Benjamin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a kid I was in a collision at recess. I smacked my mouth into a kids head, breaking my two front teeth. I had to get dental implants. I was so impressed by the experience I knew that’s what I wanted to be when I grew up. My wife and I met in undergraduate and decided we wanted to experience a different part of the country and went to Virginia for Grad school. We loved our experience there. But I needed my perfect weather and ocean. Some would think I am proud to have earned an advanced degree but Id probably say my proudest accomplishment in Dental school was winning the intra school sports intramurals for basketball and flag football most years. I moved my small family to Carlsbad and joined a practice as an associate, it was wonderful. We decided however to change everything and take an opportunity in Colorado that would make finances easier. So we moved to Colorado for 5 years. My family moved back to Carlsbad in 2016, I lived in Carlsbad but continued to work in Colorado for 5 more years commuting back and forth every week. Finally in sept 2021 after covid setbacks and a partner breaking both his wrists I purchased and started working and living in Carlsbad. The ocean brings me a sense of peace and calmness and I love driving the coast on my way home and breathing in the salt air. We truly live in the best spot.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Homes prices are high, not being able to sell a practice due to covid craziness. California is not small business friendly.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Most people might not think of dentistry as art, but it is. I often tell people I’m in construction, micro construction. I sculp and create and align your mouth, jaw and smile.
I love to give people the natural smile that’s healthy and beautiful. Your smile can be the first and biggest thing people notice, its impactful for good or bad. We all feel more confident with a beautiful smile.
What matters most to you? Why?
I treat all my patients like they are family. They are getting the care and work I would give my wife or mother. I don’t upcharge or oversell.
