Life & Work with Dr. Prophetess Martha Thompson of Delran, NJ

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Prophetess Martha Thompson.

Hi Dr. Prophetess Martha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Dr. Prophetess Martha Thompson, and my life is a testimony of resilience, divine calling, and unwavering commitment to Kingdom service. I was born in Manhattan, New York, and raised in West New York, New Jersey, by two deaf parents—an experience that shaped my compassion, advocacy, and ability to bridge worlds through love and understanding. To this day, I serve as my family’s interpreter, a role that continues to ground my ministry in communication and care.

In 1995, I began my professional career as a Correctional Police Officer with the New Jersey Department of Corrections, where I served faithfully for 27 years until retiring on January 1, 2023. In 2007, I earned an Associate of Applied Science in ASL/English Interpreting from the Community College of Philadelphia, further equipping me to be a voice for the unheard and overlooked.

My spiritual journey began in 2001, when God began to stir and awaken the prophetic gifts within me. On November 17, 2018, I was officially ordained as a Prophetess, exhorter, and minister under a supernatural apostolic-prophetic mantle. Then, on December 31, 2021, my husband, Apostle Charles T. Thompson, and I were ordained as pastors and commissioned to launch Thompson Ministries. I was further honored with the Doctor of Divinity on August 20, 2022.

Through Thompson Ministries, we serve in the heart of Kensington, Pennsylvania, offering outreach to the homeless, marriage and individual counseling, mentorship, and deliverance for those seeking true freedom from bondage. We also assist individuals in navigating the legal system, including expungements, name changes, and child support matters—empowering people to step into their new beginnings with dignity and hope.

As the founder of Thompson Designs, I create custom, upscale obituary pamphlets and memorial programs that reflect the beauty and value of each life. Every design is infused with grace, faith, and personalized storytelling.

Celebrating Life Through Beautiful Design:
Every life has a story worth honoring. At Thompson Designs, I help families create memorials that speak of love, legacy, and the everlasting promises of God—with elegance, heartfelt care, and spiritual excellence.

I am a four-time Henri Award-winning author, and my books are birthed from divine encounters, prophetic revelation, and a passion to equip the Body of Christ:

• Behind the Prophetess’ Mask (2021) – Firebird Award winner in Christian Non-fiction, Motivation & Inspiration, and Self-Help; Henri Award recipient in “Testimonials: Surviving the Crisis.”
• A Made Soldier Armed and Armored by God (2022) – A strategic manual for spiritual warfare; Firebird Award winner in Self-Help.
• In the Light: How God Speaks to Me (2023) – A prophetic collection of dreams, revelations, and deliverance encounters; Henri Award in Christian Living.
• My Identity and God (2024) – A powerful revelation of identity and purpose in Christ; Henri Award winner in Christian Living.
• The Spirit of Jael (2025) – A prophetic call to spiritual warfare, courage, and divine authority.
• Marriage on the Rock Foundation (October 2025) – A Kingdom blueprint for godly marriage built on covenant, faith, and love.

One of my greatest joys has been helping others publish and birth their own stories. By God’s instruction and grace, I helped publish the debut book of my 8-year-old granddaughter, Free Passport Around the World with Jesus and Billy, which received a Henri Award in April 2025 through the Joy & Company Christian Literacy Awards. This moment was a powerful reminder that purpose is generational and legacy begins early.

Each of my books is not only written by prophetic sight, but also graphically designed under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. I’ve had the privilege of helping many become what they once thought was impossible—published authors for the Kingdom of God.

Through every message, design, outreach effort, counseling session, and book, I remain humbly committed to lifting others, equipping the Body, and proclaiming the undeniable truth of God’s power, love, and grace. All glory belongs to Him.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Ministry is rarely a smooth road—it’s challenging, stretching, and often requires deep sacrifice. But it’s also one of the most rewarding journeys when you witness the manifestation of God’s power transforming lives through prayer, fasting, and impartation. There’s a side of ministry many don’t talk about—the dirty work—the behind-the-scenes moments of spiritual warfare, deliverance, late-night intercession, and carrying others’ burdens before the Lord. It’s the part of the road that many shy away from, but it’s exactly where the heart of true ministry is found.

You must have the love of God, the grace to endure, and the compassion to see people not for who they are in the moment, but through the lens of who God says they are. That perspective requires intimacy with God and a surrendered heart. It hasn’t always been easy, but through every trial, I’ve grown stronger, more discerning, and more anchored in my calling. Ministry has taught me how to serve with humility, fight with faith, and love without condition.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I wear many hats, but everything I do flows from one source—my obedience to God and my passion to serve His people. I’m a multi-award-winning author, publisher, editor, and graphic designer, known for helping people birth their God-given stories from start to finish. Through the creative process, I not only guide authors through writing and publishing their books, but I also personally design their covers and interiors—each one prayerfully crafted to reflect the message God has given them. What sets me apart is that every design, every edit, and every published work is birthed through prayer, prophetic insight, and Holy Spirit-led creativity.

In addition to book publishing, I run Thompson Designs, which specializes in upscale, custom obituary pamphlets and memorial programs. These aren’t just flyers—they are elegant, heartfelt tributes that honor lives with dignity, beauty, and spiritual reverence. I believe even in grief, God deserves glory.

I am also a prayer warrior, an encourager, and a woman who stands in the gap for others. I walk closely with those I serve, whether through mentorship, deliverance, or counseling. I don’t just speak life—I help people live it.

One unique area of my ministry is providing legal support services—helping people with court documentation such as expungements, name changes, and child support matters. This is an often-overlooked area where people need help the most, and I consider it an extension of the Gospel: to set the captives free—spiritually and practically.

What I’m most proud of is helping people become what they once believed was impossible—authors, overcomers, and restored sons and daughters of God. I help others tell their stories, because their testimony could be the very breakthrough someone else is waiting for.

In every aspect of my work—from prayer to publishing—I strive to reflect excellence, compassion, and purpose. I don’t just do the work—I minister through the work.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I wish someone had taken the time to mentor me—to guide me when I was a young, struggling teenage mother who didn’t know God. I didn’t have anyone to tell me that I was chosen, that I was loved, or that there was a greater purpose for my life beyond my pain. That void planted the seed for why I now take ministry and mentorship so seriously. I know what it feels like to need direction and have no one to turn to.

My advice to anyone just starting out is this: You don’t have to have it all together to begin. You just have to be willing to say yes to God. Stay faithful in the small things, stay connected to God, and allow yourself to be molded in the process. The struggles you’re going through now are shaping the testimony that will set others free later.

And let me encourage you with this: God will send the right person, at the right time, in the right place—when you cry out to Him. That’s exactly what happened to me. In my darkest moments, it wasn’t a person who showed up first—it was the Holy Ghost, whispering truth, giving me strength, and telling me who I really was in God. He became my guide, my teacher, and the voice that pulled me into purpose.

Now, I pour into others with the heart I once longed for—helping them become the daughters and sons God is calling them to be. What I didn’t have then, I’ve become now.
