Hi Drew, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Drew Lackman and the goal for my YouTube channel and Instagram page is to get outside more, have new experiences and meet interesting people. My journey began two years ago when I realized I could turn my passion for exploration into a profession. Through my YouTube channel and Instagram page, I aim to inspire others to embrace new experiences, connect with diverse individuals, and explore the world around them. By creating engaging and informative content, I’ve been able to turn my love for sharing authentic experiences into a career.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overall, my journey has been relatively smooth, which I’m grateful for. The main challenge is that I am naturally an introverted. Filming in public spaces and engaging with strangers can be pretty uncomfortable at times. Getting out of my comfort zone to create content has been an ongoing process of personal growth. There were times when meeting people for interviews or talking to the camera in busy areas felt daunting. However, I’ve found that pushing through these moments of discomfort has not only improved my content but has also led to personal development. This challenge has actually become a strength in my work. It allows me to relate to viewers who might feel hesitant about exploring new places or meeting new people.

My work primarily revolves around creating engaging YouTube vlogs that showcase a blend of travel, human interest stories, and historical exploration. I specialize in seeking out and interviewing fascinating characters from all walks of life, as well as exploring intriguing, often overlooked locations. One of my signature approaches is to look into the historical context of the places I visit. I have a passion for history, and I love sharing historical facts and anecdotes, giving viewers a richer understanding of the locations I explore. I’m known for my ability to connect with people. What I’m most proud of is the overall growth and evolution of my channel. I believe what sets me apart is my unique attitude and my ability to find myself in funny situations. I don’t just observe places; I immerse myself in experiences.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve built my business entirely on my own, which has allowed me to create my content exactly as I want. While I didn’t have direct mentors or a team, I drew inspiration from content creators like Davis Clarke, That History Guy, and Outdoor Ginger.
