Life & Work with Dylan Castiglione

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dylan Castiglione.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Tornadic is a djent/thrash band that started in the end of 2018. Co-founder Andres Vaca and I started the band just with the idea of doing something that we already loved to do, just on a larger scale. Through the years, our music has evolved along with people inside it. We have been writing original music since the beginning. In 2021, we went to the studio to record our debut EP, Awakening. That EP was released later on in February of 2022. The release of music showed us a taste of where we wanted to be. With our music now out in the world, we racked up a couple thousand listeners in the first few days of the songs being released. We were soon offered bigger shows because of the music, such as being an opener at the House of Blues in Anaheim. We were also offered an opening spot at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium. As we continue on, new music is always in the works, along with the goals of continuing down the path in which we are pushing toward.

Tornadic is Dylan Castiglione (vocals and rhythm guitar), Andres Vaca (lead guitar and backup vocals), Emiliano Berber (bass and backup vocals), and Drake Tyler (drums).

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always going to be challenges to be faced when in any type of industry. The music business is no different. One of the biggest ongoing challenges that we face is our age. With all members being 16 to 17 years old, we often have difficulty being able to play at certain clubs and venues being 21+. Along with challenges because of age, there are always those challenges that are non necessarily on the surface. In some cases, arguing can ensue when discussing and relaying ideas. But this is also a massive strength. If there is a disagreement about something like how we want a certain part of a song to go, that means that we all really care about the quality of what we do, trying to make the best possible product we can.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are a band that that specializes in djent/thrash metal music. We are known for being a tight and entertaining live band that’s music is not the only good thing about us. We try to bring the most energy to the shows for a feedback loop of energy between the crowd and us. We are definitely most proud of the progress that we have made together, along with the obstacles that we were able to prevail through during times of unknown. We have a different musical style than a lot of the local bands around us, which sets us apart a little more to try to make the musical experience more memorable.

What’s next?
For the future, some of the goals we have is to put out a brand-new album to show the progression that our music has made over the past couple of years. We are also working to try and start touring and playing at more places farther away from out own local area.
