Life & Work with Ed Silva of San Diego

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ed Silva.

Hi Ed, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was in High School when my literature teacher asked us to write about something we had, we lost, and we got it back. I wrote about a recent car accident I was involved in. I lost the car, sent it to the repair shop, and got it back.
After the bell rings, the teacher approached me and asked if I ever thought about writing a book! I honestly never did! My response to her was: “I hate reading! Why would I write a book?”

We moved from Florida to Georgia back in 2004…. my step-mother had a job offer to work with Tionne “T-Boz” from the TLC.
We found out that besides singing…Tionne was also working with a movie production company attached with Hollywood Videos, Blockbuster.

Seeing her featured scripts inspired me to write a story. But I had no idea how to begin. I read Angels & Demons by Dan Brown, and it boosted my desire to become an author! I just needed to find something to write about! I read tons of David Baldacci’s, Michael Connelly, and all of Dan Brown! I felt my genre was in the mystery-thriller…suspense. But, nothing was coming to mind. Until, a newspaper delivery driver tossed the Atlanta Constitution Newspaper from a window of his car, and it landed on my foot.

This newspaper article talked about how it had been 10 years since Princess Diana’s death and how the British Secret Service could have been involved. I had an idea. I was going to write a mystery. It took me about two years to write it. Once it was completed, I presented that story to T-Boz in 2012. Unfortunately, she was unable to help me publish it.

Since then, I am the author of several completed manuscripts and a feature screenplay written for streaming markets. I live in San Diego with my wife and our husky, and I’m trilingual in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. I currently work for United Airlines.

I’m seeking long-term representation and value clear communication, strategic guidance, and a collaborative relationship with my agent.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Constanstly being rejected by literary agents.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an author who resides in San Diego.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Persistence and never give up on your dreams.
