Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Estrada.
Hi Elizabeth, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into sugaring actually started on the other side- as a client. I fell in love with how smooth, clean, and confident it made me feel, and that curiosity eventually led me to become a licensed esthetician. I spent years practicing, growing my skills, and building real relationships with clients.
About a year ago, I began working at The Honey Pot under the original owner, Chelsea. When she made the decision to move to Ireland with her family, the opportunity to take over the spa unexpectedly landed in my lap. It wasn’t something I had planned for, but it felt like the right moment. So my mom and I decided to take the leap and purchase the business together. Since then, I’ve poured my heart into continuing what Chelsea built while bringing my own vision to the space. Every step , from being a client, to learning the craft, to becoming the owner has shaped how I approach my work today: with intention, gratitude, and a deep love for helping people feel comfortable in their own skin.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, the transition into ownership was incredibly smooth. Chelsea did an amazing job preparing everything before her move, and she made the handoff as seamless as possible. I’m really grateful for that, because I know how stressful transitions can be in this industry.
If anything, the real challenges came from what every esthetician faces when they’re building something of their own — growing a solid client base. Even though The Honey Pot already had a beautiful foundation, I still had to put in the work to introduce myself to new clients, build trust, and help people understand why sugaring and skincare matter. Skincare is important even for those who don’t think they need it, because it’s really about maintaining the health of your skin, not just the aesthetics. Your skin is your body’s largest organ. It protects you from the environment, germs, sun damage, and pollution and taking basic care of it helps keep that barrier strong.
Building that awareness with clients has been a slow and steady process, but also one of the most rewarding parts of owning the spa. Watching the community grow, one client at a time, has made every challenge worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At The Honey Pot, we specialize in full body sugaring and customized luxury skincare treatments. While I’m known for my Brazilian sugaring technique, I love offering sugaring from head to toe because it’s gentle, effective, and ideal for sensitive skin. My focus is always on clean technique, comfort, and long-term skin health.
On the skincare side, I offer custom facials, HydraFacials, and the Glo2 Facial. HydraFacials are great for deep cleansing and hydration, and the Glo2 Facial uses natural oxygenation to brighten and smooth the skin with zero downtime. I tailor every treatment to what my client’s skin needs in that moment.
What I’m most proud of is the environment we have created, a space where clients feel truly cared for, not rushed. What sets me apart is the combination of technique, personalized care, and the intention behind every service. Whether someone comes in for their first Brazilian or a luxury facial, my goal is always to make them feel comfortable, confident, and in good hands.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I actually don’t have an official mentor, but Chelsea — the original owner of The Honey Pot — has been the closest thing to one for me. Even after she moved to Ireland, she’s continued to be so helpful, supportive, and genuinely the best person to turn to when I need guidance. Having someone who’s been in your shoes and wants to see you succeed makes such a huge difference.
Another person who has inspired me from the beginning is the sugarista who first got me into sugaring. ( Ariel Owner of Bloom Sugaring). She moved to Santa Monica in LA, but comes down to SD every month to visit some old clients. I still go to support her business because she’s truly an amazing soul and a genuine person. In this industry, it’s not uncommon for people to gatekeep or hold their knowledge close, but she was never like that. Ariel has always shared her craft openly, with zero ego or envy. Just genuine passion and support. Her energy, her passion, and how talented she is at her craft continue to motivate me. She’s always been so supportive of me, and I really admire the way she shows up for her clients and for the people around her.
When it comes to networking, what has worked well for me is being open, kind, and willing to learn from anyone. I’ve connected with people simply by asking questions, supporting other estheticians, and not being afraid to reach out. In this industry, the best relationships come from genuine connection — not forced networking. If you stay authentic and surround yourself with people who truly want to help you grow, the right support naturally finds its way to you.
