Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Adams.
Hi Emily, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
For many people, 2020 was a pivotal year. We had a choice to continue our current career paths or to step out in faith and follow our dreams. I have always had a desire to be more creative and live out my passion for interior design. Growing up I was mesmerized and inspired by all of the HGTV home shows. Many home restoration shows have inspired this spark in me to make old things beautiful again. During the lockdown, I decided to complete my Bachelor’s in Psychology and launch Emily’s Design on a Dime. A psychology degree has enabled me to analyze people’s personalities and lifestyles and create a space that uniquely fits who they are. Emily’s Design on a Dime’s mission is to be able to recreate any space, on any budget. Based on this concept I have been beyond blessed to be able to serve a variety of clientele. My thriftiness and creativity have enabled me to serve my community in many different capacities. As a veteran, I pride myself on a company built around honor, courage, and commitment. What brings me the most joy with my company is the unveiling of the transformation in their homes and spaces.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business from the ground up was by no means easy. I was fortunate to have a great mentor that had plenty of knowledge to help me hit the ground running. As a new business owner, I didn’t understand the importance of branding or the power of marketing. It has been a challenge for me to put enough energy equally into all parts of my company but I have learned that as long as you give it a 110% everything comes together at the right time.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I believe the name of my company Emily’s Design on a Dime gives my customers a clear understanding of what we specialize in. We can recreate any space on any budget. Being able to restore something that looks old and broken down and make it beautiful again is one of my favorite parts of interior design. My degree in psychology sets my company apart from other interior design companies because I can analyze a person and create a space uniquely tailored to their personality.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I grew up in a culture of honor and I would have to firstly honor God for creating me with a purpose. I would also love to honor my strong support system of friends and family that are always seeing the gold in me and pulling it out. I have been so blessed to be surrounded by so many beautiful people that love and encourage me to be the best I can be.
