Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Vellone.
Hi Eric, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well, I started with no experience. I needed a job that would be very lenient because I have a disabled son and I am his caregiver 24/7. I needed something where I could Bring him with me if needed. So I bought this large printer form my cousin and figured Id do some signs and banners…something simple to make a few bucks and keep my commitments to my son.
The business took off pretty good in the community we live in. We do a lot of sports printing for some of the great organizations like Ramona Pony Baseball and Ramona Soccer. We work with a few other printers here in Ramona as well. Through word of mouth, we have gained a really great customer base that keeps growing simply because we do good work and treat people right…kind of old school way of doing business.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No it has not. We go up and down with how busy we are. Sometimes we are swamped, then other times we are doing our best to keep afloat. When we first started, I had to learn everything on the fly or as we went along. I had no formal training and never worked in a print shop at all. So everything we know, we learned a long the way and by watching a ton of YouTube.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We print a lot of different things. Anything from business cards to large scale screen printing. There isn’t one certain thing that we “specialize in” but I really love designing and printing sports banners for the organizations we have around here. We have seen a lot of the same names for years and we see all the different organizations they play in. Its pretty neat.
The thing I am most proud of is what we are known for. We are known for treating our customers like old friends, with the utmost of respect, and we are honest.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Our attitudes. We do our best to make Ballpark Printing a fun place to deal with. We want our company to be a place that people want to and look forward to coming into or contacting. Plus the quality of work that we do. We know that our work doesn’t only have the business name and reputation on it, but our own personal names and reputations.
