Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Casillas.
Jacqueline, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Opening the doors to Pretty suite was more than just starting a business for me, with 16 yrs behind the chair, and the support of loyal clients, I was able to plant a flag of my lifelong dream. I have been extremely fortunate to have started my journey as a hairstylist along side talented hairdressers who help shape me into the hairstylist I am today, but my biggest influence has always been my mother, as a single mom she worked incredibly hard to provide for me and she taught me that success isn’t handed but earned, her lessons stayed with me as I built my career from the ground up, specializing in Blonding services, color corrections, precision cuts, hair extensions, and pursuing advanced education by some of the industries most respected names and earning certifications with Bellami hair extensions and Brazilian Blowout. As a wife and a mother of two I know first hand the balancing act so many woman and men face and although its not always easy my family is my WHY and they inspire me to keep pushing forward and lead by example. That sense of purpose is the element of my work and my passion to connect with every person who sits in my chair and make their experience at Pretty suite the highlight of their day. Beauty to me is so much more than meets the eye, its a new found feeling of confidence.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road, but with every hurdle comes growth. For me Covid-19 shut down is what pushed me to open my own studio at Sola Salons. I, like many others knew it was the safest way to transition to our industries new guidelines. That decision came with new challenges of course, the instability of the pandemic paired with the new responsibilities as a sole proprietor was a learning curve I wasn’t really prepared for but with the support of my husband and family, I was able to get the tools needed to run and thrive Pretty suite. Thank you to all my wonderful clients for going on that journey with me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a hairstylist of 16 years, I’ve witnessed the massive change social media has created in our industry, it has allowed many of us to have a digital profile and has expanded our educational system. Therefore pursuing advanced education in a more traditional space at least once a year is crucial for me, learning new techniques, new formulas and new equipment as well as taking social media cues in how to take quality pictures and videos where my clients can feel save, comfortable and confident is also a priority for me. Learning how to properly display my work while Developing my skills in blonding services, color corrections, precision haircuts for both short and long, and hair extensions has been a journey that I am very proud of.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I forsee the Beauty industry continuing to grow and become safer for the artist, new technologies have allowed for our equipment such as shears, mats, stools, chairs and even clothing to be more efficient and nicer to our bodies, new techniques have started to teach the new generations how to avoid carpal tunnel and back issues to name a few as well As new formulas being developed to avoid harmful chemicals in our products. We love that. As for trends I enjoy the never ending changes we make to the already existing styles and breathing new life into them. Being open to change is the key to creating a signature look we all want and Pretty Suite is the place to start.
