Today we’d like to introduce you to Janine Haynes.
Hi Janine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Janine Haynes, and I am a tour guide here in San Diego. I give tours including history tours in Old Town and The Gaslamp, Ghost Tours in Old Town, The Gaslamp, Pioneer Park, and the Tenth Avenue Arts Center, and food tours in Point Loma and La Jolla. I am also a paranormal investigator and psychic medium. I grew up seeing and hearing spirits from the young age of 18 months old. This led me to my current careers in the paranormal. That mixed with my love of history, is why I give tours. I recently added the food tours as another outlet to share the unique history of San Diego and some of the best food spots.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road for me. It is as if this is what I should have always been doing. I have many careers before this, but this just feels like I have found my place in the world.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a tour guide at Haunted San Diego Yours, I get to tap into my creative side by taking on the character of “Kat.” She is from the 1860s and loves to share her ghost stories with some fun cat-themed jokes added in. I never really saw myself as an actress until I took this job on, and now, I can say I love to entertain a crowd and share my vast knowledge with others. As a medium and paranormal investigator here in San Diego, I am thankful to be able to help people in my community with their haunted houses/objects or to just help them to connect to their lost loved ones or their spirit guides to help them find the answers they need or the right path for their lives. I am also the Author of My Paranormal Life Growing Up Psychic.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
As a child, I was quite shy. I loved to play outside and get dirty. I enjoyed going to movies with friends or just hanging out listening to music. I loved to sing, though I never let anyone hear me. I have always had a soul for giving a helping others. Even at a young age.
