Hi Jenni, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, my name is Jenni, I’ve been married for 22 years with 2 kids. While my kids were small, I started making what I called cake pops! The kids loved them. Looking back, they were a mess! But you’ve gotta start somewhere! Then in 2013, my family moved to Hilliard Ohio on military orders. I was born and raised in Southern California, so being thrown into the Midwest during the polar vortex was challenging, and I had to figure out a way to stay busy and not go insane. So, I started making cake pops again, and I just got better, people started buying them! The. In 2016 we came back to Wildomar, CA, I got my license, and the rest is history.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
If there isn’t a struggle, then you’re not doing it right! It’s terrifying, you want to please everyone. You don’t want to make people upset or angry, so you end up. Lowballing your worth. But you learn you can’t please everyone, and know your worth, everything else will fall into place.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in cake pops, but also do other goodies: cupcakes, pretzels, rice crispy treats, mini cheesecakes and we just added banana bread! Definitely, my business name sets me apart! People remember me, they laugh when they call! Sometimes ask if I’m actually crazy lol!!! “Only for cake pops, of course”. I’ve been told my customer service skills keep people coming back! I aim to please, and I will go the extra mile for customer satisfaction.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking is important; you are kept up to date in the industry with the latest fads, etc! I love helping others who are just starting out. I was approached by a young girl at a local vendor event, she shared her passion for baking! She told me no one wanted to pay for what she was doing, so she stopped! I told her to continue, those who support you will pay what you’re worth! I gave her my card and told her I would love to help her get started in any way I can! I hope she reaches out to me!
