Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse London.
Hi Jesse, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born on September 2, 1995 in Worcester, Massachusetts. Seeing Elvis on my Grammy’s TV when I was 6 made a very distinct impression. I knew I had to get my hands on a guitar and a microphone. After going from metal to indie bands and everything in between, I feel like I really found myself as a solo artist.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The last few years have certainly been a Roller Coaster ride- the kind that goes really fast and upside down. I loved performing in New England, but I felt the cold was draining me in a lot of ways. It became a yearly winter tradition for my girlfriend Rachael and I to visit her parents in San Diego. In December 2020, we decided to make the leap and move. I’m honestly the happiest I’ve been in my whole life because of it. No matter what, I give my best effort to make the most of every day. One of my teachers told me “what you put in is what you get out” and I believe that.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Really, I enjoy singing and playing live more than anything else. I love songs I wrote and songs I wish I wrote too. People seem to appreciate my versatility, improvisation and from time to time, my ability to mimic my favorite guitar players. Every set includes a tasteful blend of rock, blues, jazz, folk, and country. Fun Fact: When I booked my first solo gig in September 2017, I honestly had no idea if I’d ever play another. As of today, I’ve played more than 300 and I’m even more excited for the next 300!
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I would call myself a methodical risk taker. I take big risks on occasion but they’re typically well thought out. Putting all of my equipment in the car, and driving across the country in the middle of a pandemic (without a single gig booked) was surely one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken. I’m very glad I did though! The thought of “what could’ve been” would have eaten away at me forever if I didn’t.
Thank you so much for chatting with me today!
