Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Tingle.
Hi Jessica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always had a keen eye for design, fashion, and art, but I didn’t quite know what I wanted to do with it. I got my footing at a little interior design studio and soon realized that wasn’t what I wanted to do. I began researching different fields in interiors and stumbled upon staging. I was hired onto a local staging company as an assistant and loved the fast paced, energized, and ever- changing vibe of the staging world. After about a year of working with the company, I decided it was time to move forward. I took the leap, and created Staging Collective in 2019. What started out as small partial stagings here and there evolved into a jam-packed schedule of full stagings.
Today, SC is a multi-faceted company operating beyond real estate- we’re highly respected in the Airbnb, commercial real estate, but, Airbnb’s, commercial real estate, boutique hotel, and residential sectors.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business alone, with a lot of passion but not a lot of experience – it’s not an easy venture from the start. The growing pains and mistakes are always difficult and painful, but they provide opportunities to push through even when you want to give up. The patience and perseverance gained from these trying times makes you stronger, and helps you excel and achieve your goals.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create spaces that emulate the constant inspiration I find by traveling, art, culture, and architecture. My dream has always been to work on a boutique hotel and I finally got the opportunity to do so in South Oceanside where I live called The Green Room hotel. I curated and designed the overall aesthetic of all 12 rooms alongside Salthouse Collective who designed the kitchenettes, bathrooms, and light fixtures.
I wanted each room to have a different vibe inspired by the surf, art, and music communities. I brought in a local artist (The Strange House), muralist (MRDVICE), and artisans to make each room feel one of a kind and authentic.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Surround yourself with creative, driven, and forward-thinking people, consistently learn new things, and find inspiration in everything you see.
