Hi Jessika, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been in the beauty industry for 11 years, and I’ve truly done every step along the way. I started as an assistant, worked my way through commission, moved into booth renting, and eventually opened my own salon suite with a team of three amazing stylists. I’ve spent six years as an educator for an international brand and am now partnering with a new one I’m excited about. I’m also a four-time Behind the Chair One Shot nominee, with two categories landing in the Top 25. Taking the long route, one step at a time, has shaped me into the artist, mentor, and business owner I am today, and I’m still loving every minute of the journey.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road. I always knew I wanted to become an educator, but stepping into that role was a huge leap out of my comfort zone. I’m confident behind the chair, but public speaking and presenting to a room full of stylists, many who already have strong knowledge, was intimidating. Learning how to deliver information clearly while all eyes were on me was a major challenge. But pushing through that fear, practicing those skills, and continuing to invest in education helped me grow into the educator I always wanted to be.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a hairstylist that specializes in lived in haircuts and hair color. I love cutting bobs, lobs & long layers. Blonde, Brunette or Copper I love it all!
What sets me apart is my commitment to technique, continued education, and creating an elevated experience for every client and stylist I work with. I don’t skip steps, lI grow through them, and I bring that mindset into everything I do.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5–10 years, I see salons moving away from traditional in-salon retail and directing clients to purchase products online instead. I also envision AI tools, like apps or interactive screens, that help clients find the right stylist or barber, not just based on the look they want, but also on personality and stylist fit, creating a more personalized and seamless experience.
