Life & Work with Jordanna Kasander of Ocean Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordanna Kasander

Hi Jordanna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Around seven years ago, my husband, dog and myself moved out to San Diego from NYC and landed in Ocean Beach. We came to SD for a new life, a new start, and to begin a business we had an idea for. We got settled in OB and quickly started looking for the right location for our new store, California Keto. A store dedicated to sugar free, gluten free and clean foods. We found the perfect spot in La Jolla and quicky went about the business of building our new business! We forged relationships with local bakeries and chefs to offer fresh baked breads, pastries, cookies, donuts and more. We offered clean prepared foods and a store full of packaged delicious snacks and foods. All was going very well until the pandemic hit. We struggled through, but eventually had to close. Looking for my next idea and way to help get out the message of living a long, clean life, I created a YouTube channel I call Vital Longevity. Here, I post three to five times a week, short video’s on tips, insights and strategies to live a longer, healthier life. I have also partnered with my favorite supplement and beauty companies to offer discounts to my followers. At this point, Vital Longevity has just under 16K followers and growing!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are always struggles! Trying to build a business right when the pandemic hit was quite something. We had to pivot our strategies almost daily. When we were all in a tight lockdown, we realized the only way to stay afloat was to deliver our goods to our customers. That worked for quite some time! We took online orders and every morning, my husband would pack up everything with dry ice and drive all over SD county. Our customers were very thankful which was wonderful! Over time, the larger grocery stores starting selling some of our same products for much less. Many of our smaller suppliers started to close, and many, many other issues that hit us daily. Now, working full time and building Vital Longevity, is always a balancing act. Thinking of new content to create for my followers and to keep it engaging is something I think about every day! There are a lot of channels out there, so I work hard to create something that genuinely helps people. I believe the world deserves better information about health, especially the under-discussed topics like biohacking, supplements, whole food as medicine and peptides. There’s so much noise out there, that people are often left to guess what’s right or wrong. I want to make that information accessible, trustworthy and actually useful. Every video I create, brings me closer to building a community that’s as invested in their health as I am in sharing this knowledge. Plus, the daily grind keeps me on my toes, always learning, experimenting and improving. It’s exciting, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am quite proud of the fact that I worked full time while building our business and continue to work as I build and grow Vital Longevity. I have spent many years researching and learning about all thing’s health and longevity and it’s my passion. I am proud of creating something that goes beyond just content. That I am hopefully building a reliable resource that people can turn to for real, actionable health insights. Every video I make reflects my dedication to empowering viewers to take charge of their health. I hope that my channel is genuinely making a difference and that I am setting a standard of quality and trust that stands out in a crowded online world.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Stay diligent, committed and focus on consistency over perfection. When I started, I spent too much time trying to make verythi8ng flawless, which just slowed me down. Now I realize, it’s all about finding your flow, getting comfortable with the process and letting the content evolve over time.
Another big tip: don’t get discouraged by low views at first. Everyon9e starts at zero and building an audience takes time. Focus on creating content that’s valuable and true to your voice – people will notice Authentify, even if it takes a little while. Also, experiment with different formats and keep learning! Lastly, engage with your audience from day one, answer comments and even join groups or communities where you can connect with others in your niche. These early connections can help boost your channel and give you a sense of purpose when the going gets tough.
