Today we’d like to introduce you to Kana & David Lowe.
Hi Kana & David, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Lowe Motion started from the passion of wanting to see more talented Black artists on their own platform. In short, Black representation matters and we weren’t seeing enough people who looked like us on the stages of upscale events we were attending here in Southern California. We wanted our community to know these experiences were never that far fetch and not something you just see on television or Hollywood red carpets. But we didn’t want to create just any platform, we wanted to create a space of elegance for our people to network, have fun, and support the Black art in their own backyard.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has indeed been rocky for us but never in a way we don’t overcome. Finding reliable team members who are like-minded with similar goals has always been a priority for us because these productions take a village. We can’t do this alone so we are grateful for the members who trust the vision and help bring our events to life. However, finding the members and building with them takes time and can present a negative pushback on the process if there’s more error than growth.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Lowe Motion, LLC is an event production company focused on providing an atmosphere to enjoy life, build community and highlight black-owned resources and art within San Diego, CA, and beyond. We operate out of multiple creative spaces and host “in house” events and showcases while also providing accessible event rentals to individuals and companies in the community. We not only create the atmosphere for our community, we create for you. Lowe Motion provides event planning services for individuals and brands looking to bring their own ideas to life. It’s more than just putting an event together for us. We carefully curate experiences special to each unique idea while also planting seeds, building bonds, and working for each other.
We make it our mission to ensure the Vision.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The quality we feel is most important to our success is our ability to accept the things we cannot change. A lot of times, we face trials that require us to quickly find replacement solutions because time is of the essence when it comes to event planning. We have to be open to the worst possible scenario like a talent or vendor canceling or not having the right equipment for set up. Unforeseeable things happen, so we have to be able to quickly adapt to our circumstances, resulting in us accepting the things we cannot change.
