Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasey Dunn.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in a small town in Kentucky, which is a staple to me because it has kept me grounded within the journey I’m about to take you on. After graduating from highschool I attended college for 4 years in Cincinnati, Ohio. When I graduated with a Business degree, specialising in Sports, I didn’t know of the direction I wanted to take. I interned with the Cincinnati Bengals & Reds but I felt that I had a bigger purpose and needed to be explored. When I was in college, I had a manager for fitness modeling who soon convinced me to become an actress. Within four months after graduation, I packed up my Jeep & headed out west to Los Angeles at the age of 21. I was very lucky to have hired an agent & the opportunity presented itself to start this journey. When I landed in LA – I knew no one. Clean slate. My acting coach at the time helped me find a job at Mastro’s Steakhouse in Beverly Hills & that’s where I’ve met lifelong friends as well as future business partners. Thankfully in my short time in acting/modeling, I landed numerous commercial roles & a couple of short films which helped me broaden my knowledge of the entertainment world which would soon be a stepping stone down the road.
While working at Mastro’s a gentleman was hiring for a Business Development Manager for a very well-known financial company. At the time, I was making ends meet when it came to my own financial well being & I knew I had to make some changes. I took him up on the offer which started my career in finances. This was a gateway to my next job where I then was able to transition into a boutique financial firm which helped athletes manage their wealth. This was the best of both worlds since Sports has always been a love of mine. This company helped shape me into an individual that could conquer the world of business, relationships & ownership. I started with them as a Client Service Associate & over time transitioned into a Marketing Coordinator/Social Media Manager. This helped me understand the fundamentals of branding, content strategy, content planning, tracking analytics & really diving into empathy & client relations. After being with them for three years, I was presented an opportunity to become a Senior Social Media Manager for a PR agency as well as work alongside 3+ companies with growing their brands through social media platforms that included the beverage, talent, beauty/wellness & entertainment industries.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I would say it has been a little bit of both. Moving to LA as a 21 years old for anyone with no background in a fast pace city is never easy especially when you are coming out here on a dream & alone. One thing I’ve learned is when you are given a “no” in situations don’t think of that in a bad way. Think of that as a push in a different direction or path that is meant for you. I find that there is purpose in everything & what you water will grow.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am now self-employed in the Social Media space. I specialize in brand creation, content strategy, influencer marketing, celebrity partnerships, social photography & creative direction. I am most proud of the relationships I’ve built as well as my design skills that have improved in the last two years.
I would say it doesn’t set me apart because I believe everyone has a sense of positivity or humbleness but I do enjoy being the light of the room. I am very outgoing & I love hearing other people’s stories, triumphs & successes.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
