Life & Work with Kelah Mckee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelah Mckee.

Kelah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I remember back in 2013, for one of my communications classes out professor had us watching national new platforms to see what was trending across the board. I watched a huge network cover a story on President Barack Obama for waving at the American people as he was getting on Air Force one. They covered him in a negative manner. I took a vow than to positively promote African Americans on my platform.

I am now a Media Specialist for my own brand. I am known as “ThePolishedLady.” Interview black entrepreneurs and positively build brand awareness for their businesses. I am also a host and influencer.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I want to meet the entrepreneur who has had a smooth experience and interview them for a few questions.

No, my journey has not been smooth. I have older parents, a four-year son, and a lot of traveling to be done in my field. I work long hours; no day is the same, and I never know when I’m going to be cued to go. I take one step at a time with this and count my blessings for all I have accomplished so far.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in interviews that help black entrepreneurs tell their stories on my platform to positively gain brand awareness to their potential clientele. I’m super proud of the fact that I’ve gotten to interview David Banner, I’ve had the honor to interview cast members Lil Zane & Myles Bullock on the STARZ show “BMF” and I’ve covered events for the trap music museum and more.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would always have to be the time I got on stage with Deshawn Snow from the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” at a conference, and she asked me what I wanted to be. I told them all I aspire to be an advice column writer. Looking at my life, that’s what I do, but I influence people to shop heavily with our black-owned businesses.
