Today we’d like to introduce you to Mario Mitchell
Hi Mario, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story started from my dad (Mario Sr.) he was a known producer in San Diego around the 80s and 90s. Growing up he wanted me to follow his footsteps but as a kid I was all over the place, and really thought basketball was my calling, especially after my freshman team made it to the championship (We Lost). After the season ended I switched schools to a higher division school for basketball. That went terrible I was exposed to racisms for the first time and it sent me into a depression. I quit everything and just to be more rebellious I started playing guitar and got into HEAVY metal. My dad seen I was getting into music but was not interested in helping me because he didn’t like the music i was playing. So after High School my friends that made metal music stopped and the only people I knew that made music still was my old friend Rob that made hip hop beats. I noticed nobody in the hip hop scene around our area knew how to play instruments or knew music theory so i decided to makes beat as well. Producing looked fun and I knew I could do it and probably be good at it. Once i started I couldn’t stop. I finally found something i felt confident in and I’ve never had that feeling ever, even with sports. That confidence helped push me alittle more than my peers that grew up with me, That confidence helped me reach out to big artists like Rob Stone, The Game, Lucki, Hardini, Yabbie Ect. As well as their teams, and make music right in front of them on the spot at the same time still being very respectful, professional, and kind. Now today I’m still trying to prove myself and get the big artists, but I’ve noticed I’ve had more satisfaction and more momentum creatively, working with artists who are coming up and want their own personal producer which gives me more creative control for their projects and makes me feel more like we are making something together than just being a small piece of a big puzzle, So upcoming I will be having production on Brandon Nash’s New Singles coming out As well As Sliiim Buddha, Diggy Danja, And Ed Jones’. Each artist sounds completely different from each other so there’s something for everyone.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Many challenges alot of them were just finical problems as well as just being a creative person trying to accept yourself and also wanting to be accepted by others without changing who you are.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Producer, I’m proud of the music ive created so far and the versatility ive gained, what sets me apart is my speed, vibe, and selflessness
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My friends rob, fonz, and my dad all were good mentors who showed me how to make music and got me interested
