Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa Franco.
Hi marissa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story is definitely one of a kind. Since I was a young 9 year old girl I wanted to become a fashion designer and I thought I could make clothes that would change people from their wrong ways and become great people for society. My grandmother was the person to teach me how to sew by hand and then by machine at the ages 8 and 9. Of course I started with my dolls, then it evolved into custom designs for my mother. Soon after my skills reached the everyday people to my local city. I always held onto my passion and dreams, until one tragic night I lost someone I dearly loved – My step-father had left my world. This left my heart in a disarray, along with any dreams I carried within. During this time I was introduced to a Christian church it brought light to my world and light to my dreams and God used someone in that church to share with me not to give up on my dreams and also that I will own my own business. After that message I received from God I went through many blessings and trials that eventually led me to where I am today. Now I currently rent a small 290 sq. ft. shop, but I will be moving to a larger 1,230 sq. ft. space for my business by the end of October 2025. I have now been a small business owner for the last 3 years. Lastly, none of this would have happened if it weren’t for the faithful God I serve and for the redemption and life transformation I’ve received from our Savior, our Lord, Jesus Christ!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road has not been smooth, I have faced many challenges along the way and still to this day. Most of the challenges I face are within my mind sometimes I have to battle through doubt. Other challenges I face is time management, work-life balance with my family and business. Some of the new challenges I have been facing is how to structure my business and finding the right team to work with me and how to provide them with excellent benefits. I am also challenged with coming up with the funding to do the renovations to the new business location.
As an entrepreneur I think this is the beautiful in “beautiful beginnings”. There is no right way, but the wrong way is to not try.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a professional tailor. I help peoples garments for their everyday wear or their special occasion garments fit them as if it were made for them. I also create garments made to fit my client and undergo many fittings starting with their body measurements. I believe I am known for doing a great job with special fit complications and making a solution for my clients. I am most proud of the first time I pushed myself and challenged myself to work beyond my comfort zone to meet my clients’ demands and succeeding. This has grown into confidence when working with suits.
I believe what sets my business apart from others is how it is a faith-based business glorifying Jesus and what he has done for me and allowing me to do for others.

Something surprising that I think most people who are familiar with my work and myself is that even though I love my business and what I do – I plan to grow it in a way where it can one day be sold and I can use the profit to invest in other young business and people like myself.
