Today we’d like to introduce you to Miro Imani.
Hi Miro, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Miro Imani, a San Diego-based singer/songwriter and guitarist. Growing up, music was always part of my life. I sang when I was little, and as I grew older, I transitioned to cello and later to guitar. After high school, I picked up singing again and moved to San Diego. From there I started performing at open mics, mostly at coffee shops, and I started learning how to produce music. Over time I got better, and I started doing paid gigs and releasing music. Now I’m doing that stuff full-time.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t quite been smooth. It can be hard to find consistent work. People love music but don’t always want to pay for it. It’s also been hard to continuously market myself and promote my public image.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m mainly a performing artist. I sing and play guitar. I also do some work as a recording artist, adding vocals or guitar to various tracks. Sometimes I do production and sound-engineering work as well.
As far as what I’m proud of, I really value my musical flexibility. I like to explore multiple genres, and I try to merge them where I can. I’d say that’s what sets me apart too.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think consistency is the most important thing. Keeping up practice and seeking opportunity often are pretty necessary.
