Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica G. Zanabria.
Hi Monica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was about 6 years old, I used to play with my mom’s dresses and shoes, but I always grew up surrounded by cars and vintage clothes because my dad was a merchant. I have always liked vintage clothing. I have always liked the history that each piece can have and how, through many generations, the piece is still beautiful. That is when I started to do something that I have enjoyed for more than 30: years, and it became what is now my passion. I believe that each vintage garment should be unique, elegant, and stylish. One day I talked to my husband about what I would like to do, and he answered me. “Let’s do it” I support you in whatever you decide to do. At that moment, my heart was so excited, and I started looking forward to this challenging adventure.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been easy; as with any business, it has its ups and downs. But I think that one of the struggles has been my mind because sometimes it betrays you, and doubt enters your mind that maybe it won’t work. We think that everything is very easy, and it is not like that; on the contrary, everything requires time, effort, dedication, and money. Sometimes I have to think that everything is going to be okay and move on and not be disappointed if things don’t turn out the way I want. I want to continue learning and growing to be able to continue in what I enjoy doing the most.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I sell home goods such as paintings, porcelain figurines, toys, clothes, accessories, shoes, etc. I specialize in the 1950s to 1990s. I pay tribute to the name of my store because my pieces are very chic. I think that I became known for the quality and curating of each pieces that I have collected. Another thing that characterizes me is my customer service. I want each person to feel special. I strive for my customers to feel that they are in their own home, feel comfortable, and very well received. I get a lot of compliments on my store setup.
One of the most important things for me is that the customer is satisfied with the vintage items they buy from me. It’s not just selling; it’s when I see the happy customer putting on a dress, choosing a painting or a porcelain figurine; it’s seeing their smiles, being able to know and understand what they’re looking for, and being able to make them feel happy when they take it home.
