Life & Work with Nayeli Rodríguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nayeli Rodríguez.

Hi Nayeli, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I´m a graphic designer and a pet photographer. Since I was a little girl, I have always loved animals and art, so I always knew that I want to dedicate myself to them. As a child, I always watched animal planet and Nat geo documentaries, and I always wanted to dedicate myself to something related to photography and animals. So, 9 years ago, I started taking pictures of my pets with a normal camera, and little by little, I was able to buy a professional camera and thus take pictures of other people’s pets, that’s how I started my small pet photography business in 2012. At that time, there was no one dedicated to that; the pet boom was just beginning. I started connecting with people who had small businesses for pets, and that’s how I started to get known. A group of women entrepreneurs and I, who are now my friends, got together to support each other, and that’s how I started doing my photography packages; they sold me the cake for pets that is for birthday photoshoots, clothes, and more.

One of my purposes has always been to help street animals, so my way of helping them is to take professional photos of them to give them more publicity so that they can be adopted by a family, so I have worked together with rescuers and thus be able to help more animals to have a good home. I love pets and, more than that, making a memory that you will have for the rest of your life.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I can say that it has been an easy road, and I have been blessed with the help of others. But there are always obstacles; many people do not take me seriously because they still have the taboo that it’s aimed at pets and not at people, but little by little, people have changed and become closer to their pets. I hope later to be able to dedicate myself 100% to this; I really love it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I would absolutely love to continue learning more and to be able to work with others who are dedicated to the same thing and to learn from them; I am always trying to learn more and more. I specialize in pet photography, but I also do family patriots; I love doing seasonal photography, for example, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Christmas, etc., and I try to do different things from year to year. I am super grateful to be able to do what I like, and above all, because it gives me the opportunity to meet great people who love animals just like me and try to teach others that animals are also part of our family.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I would like to tell all the people that when they see a small business, support it because that way, they help that person fulfill their dream.
