Today we’d like to introduce you to Nia Mack.
Hi Nia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started making music back in high school, around the age of 15. My younger brother Mac G was already teaching himself to produce beats on a program called Fruity Loops. We were young, we had to be resourceful and find free recording software at that time. We did all this in the backroom of our mother’s house.
Over time as I worked to perfect my craft, my writing skills, my delivery, even some harmonizing and singing until one day I had mastered it. Music had become my love and I couldn’t imagine my life without it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My musical journey has been everything but smooth for a number of reasons. The music I create predominantly falls under the Hip-Hop/Rap genre which is majorly influenced by men. It makes it even harder being a female artist. It makes it even harder than that being a gay female artist, who would be described as more masculine. That’s why I had to go above and beyond to separate myself with my skill level. I knew because I was a woman, I’d often be overlooked in this industry. True talent always wins in the end.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My name is Nia Mack and I’m a recording artist. The majority of my music would be categorized in the Hip-Hop/ Rap and R&B genres. People would say I’m known for my unorthodox rap style, unpredictable cadences, and my two catchphrases that you will pretty much hear in every one of my songs, “AYEE!” and “HELLOO!”
I think I’m the most proud of how far I’ve come with my music. I’m proud of myself for sticking things out even when times got rough. I’m proud of mastering the art of touching someone without even being in the same room with them. That’s power.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Honestly, having me featured on in your magazine is support in itself. I am extremely grateful. Also, I have a new album I intend to release April 2022, called “InsomNia.” I’d love for you all to do a social media post or sometime of mass blast to your supporters to help me get the word out. It’s some of my best work to date, I worked so hard on this album, and I can’t wait for the world to hear it.
