Hi Nikki, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my journey in the beauty industry in 2007, attending cosmetology school right after high school. Since the age of 16, I’ve been passionate about hair and makeup—experimenting with my own looks and helping friends feel their best for special occasions.
After earning my license, I started as an assistant and had the privilege of learning from incredible stylists, many of whom I’m still connected with today. Over the years, I’ve built my career around one guiding principle: every client deserves to feel confident, comfortable, and celebrated in my chair.
I specialize in curly haircuts and creative color for all textures, including balayage, highlights, and bold, vivid hues. I also love being part of life’s most meaningful moments—whether it’s a wedding, birthday, or anniversary, I’m honored to create styles that make those days unforgettable.
Currently, I work at Wolf & Sparrow Salon in La Mesa, a beautiful space where I strive to offer not just great hair, but a relaxing experience that helps clients unwind from their busy lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. I started out assisting and worked my way up, learning to balance humility with confidence and building trust with clients one step at a time. One of my biggest challenges came when I had to rebuild my business after taking a hiatus due to a family loss. Starting over meant reconnecting with clients while balancing healing with the realities of running a business. Those struggles taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of community, shaping me into the stylist I am today—someone dedicated to creating beautiful hair while making every client feel comfortable and confident.
At the end of the day, my work is about more than just hair—it’s about building a business that reflects my values and supports my family. My son is a huge source of motivation, reminding me why consistency and strength matter even when times get tough. Balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship has taught me to stay grounded, push through challenges, and keep showing up with passion and dedication. When clients sit in my chair, they’re not only getting a stylist who loves the craft, but someone who truly understands the importance of community, family, and resilience.

I’d say the most important quality behind my success is building real connections with people and paying close attention to detail. I love listening to what clients want and then bringing that vision to life with precision—whether it’s a haircut, a color service, or a special occasion style. That mix of connection and detail makes sure every client leaves feeling confident and cared for.
