Life & Work with Noah Vincent of Northpark

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Vincent

Hi Noah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been tattooing for a little over a year. I work as a full time artist at Wish Tattoo in Northpark. I did two apprenticeships before starting at Wish. My first that lasted for 9 months and my second for 6 months. Before tattooing I worked in supply chain for commercial aerospace.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think my introduction to tattooing was pretty standard. I spent about 6 months putting together a portfolio and looking for an apprenticeship. I really wanted to get into tattooing “the right way” and I was committed to finding a mentor to teach me. Unfortunately my first apprenticeship in a shop wasn’t a good fit and I ended up leaving after about 9 months. I was lucky enough to find another artist to take me on shortly after that and spent 6 months as an apprentice in a private studio. I then moved to my current shop where I’ve been working as a full time artist.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a tattoo artist. I’m pretty new, so I’m definitely still learning what techniques feel good and what styles I enjoy the most.

I got into tattooing because I love drawing and making art, and I really want my love for drawing to show in my tattoos. I think a lot of clients come to me because they want tattoos that are loyal to foundational tattoo imagery and design but feel new and unique.

I’m very proud of the experience I provide to clients. As much as I love drawing, I also love connecting with people and getting to know them during our tattoo sessions. I believe that personal connection and positive experience is just as important as the tattoo.

Being a new artist and working in a city where there are literally hundreds of other people making tattoos, most of whom are much more experienced than I am, makes me so grateful that I have the clients I do and that they choose to come to me for art they will wear for the rest of their lives.
