Today we’d like to introduce you to Paola Lopez and Freda Gutierrez.
Hi Paola and Freda, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We are two architects and we are both very passionate about interior design. We were coworkers a few years ago, where we started our friendship and soon realized that we were eager to establish and develop our own business. We realized the potential that we both had and the capacity to imagine and create new spaces. How to translate our thoughts and ideas to real life. We had the opportunity to collaborate in projects that gave us the experience that we needed to succeed and offer the best services to our clients. We learned about different legal aspects of the business, marketing, and branding and elaborated our business plan. In September of 2020, we launched the business venture where our objective is create new spaces and bring them to life. In Epadia Interior we seek to solve the interior design through innovative and creative ideas satisfying the client’s necessities while giving a sense of harmony and equilibrium in design and functionality. We take an idea to concept through computer-assisted design, to later manufacture them, which is our specialty. We custom build each of our designs to meet our clients’ needs and excel their expectations, which has given us exposure in the region to expand our clientele and keep pursuing bigger and more ambitious projects every time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The toughest part was believing in ourselves, that we could do this despite of the pandemic, we had to believe that it was the best time to launch this business successfully. Once we convinced ourselves that it was the right time and took the leap, the doors kept opening to guide us here. Today, as we write this, we realize that within our first year, we established our business and registered to be able to operate as a formal entity, we rented our own office and we’ve given this project the sense that we want transmit to our projects and clients. We hired our first employee William and we have our eyes open to what the future has for us. We’ve encountered problems along the way that we’ve had to solve. Together, as a team, we keep learning and pushing ourselves to be better in new aspects of our business. Today, the demand for our services are obligating us to delegate tasks and responsibilities, we are ready to keep expanding our team and our business to be able to meet this demand. The goals that we have for ourselves and our business are higher every time and we are up for the challenge.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We offer a variety of services, but everything starts with the interior design. We analyze the space and cater to the necessities of the clients. We propose accessories, floor finishes, walls, ceilings, furniture, textiles, and decorations for the spaces. We custom design every single space and detail that will make the space unique. We use different tools to satisfy the client’s needs and wants on every step of the design process, we use 3D programs to show the actual space being furnished and mood boards to better understand what the client is inclined for. We custom design the blueprints for every project to make sure the space harmonizes. Once this process is completed, we elaborate the blueprints for the client’s furniture, everything is made to order to meet and exceed expectations. We use the finest leathers, textiles, and woods to accomplish this. We adapt our services to meet our clientele’s wants and adjust to different budgets, we personalize and quote in stages or even rooms to fulfill projects, we love being a part of the process and integrate the clients in every step, this way we build trust and clients harmonize with their spaces as we transform their empty rooms, offices or restaurants to the finalized project.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
For both of us, the support of our families was crucial. Everyone encouraged us and supported our project from the start. We went over the what-ifs and their response was always the same “you got this!”.
Special thanks to Ana Issa, that has helped us with the best marketing, branding, and social media content advice since the inception of this venture. Not only that, she is our counselor when it comes to emotional and moral support.
