Today we’d like to introduce you to Polly Walshin
Hi Polly, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The Long but short story is pretty intense. The way I started was wild. My mom was a single mom my dad remarried when I was a year old .My dad faked his death on my seventh birthday. I thought my whole life he was dead until he suddenly came back to life right before I turned 16 . I found out through a newspaper that he had been arrested with 1000 kg of cocaine..My life has been a series of somewhat bad choices, By the grace of God I always knew that God was in control and taking care of me.
I’ve gotten to be where I am today because of my faith and because of resilience and knowing that there’s a purpose for every tragedy that we’ve ever gone through. That our mess can truly become our message to help other
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I’ve struggled with my identity. I’ve struggled with drugs. I’ve struggled with being divorced. I’ve struggled with being a single mom. I’ve struggled with being a daughter of the largest drug smuggler in US history. I’ve struggled with being the daughter of a single mom and being raised by her with out her ever receiving any child support. We had to struggle financially for years.
I struggled with my own identity and my worth. I’ve struggled with anorexia and bulimia. Lord knows I’ve had my share of struggles. I’ve struggled with marrying a guy that went down. a bad path and was not able to be there for either one of his kids while they were young . . I’ve struggled with having to live with my mom for seven years with both kids trying to stand on my own 2 feet with zero child support?. I honestly don’t know what I would’ve done without my Mom helping us all those years. However, it was still a struggle.
Through every struggle, I’ve always known that God was there, and I would see many glimpses of His hand in my life constantly. No matter what the situation look like God always pulled through. I got to see miracles instead of messes over and over and over again . Also because of the way my life has been I’ve been able to help so many people ! Thats the blessing in having a testimony is to be able to help others.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been a real estate agent for over 20 years. While I worked a full-time job when my children were small I went to school at night and received my masters degree .I became a PE teacher. That was an amazing job. However, I was injured on the job and could not do that anymore .
I was so thankful I still had Real Estate. When the whole world was shut down in 2020 I decided to write a book about my life experiences . The inspiration was from the feeling that I had that my dad really never loved me and all the choices I made because of that thought. The name of my book is ,”You Got Daddy Issues.” That is probably one of the things as far as a career goes I am most proud of
.I believe what sets me apart from others more than anything is my faith . No matter how far I’ve ever fallen down or when things have looked so bleak I’ve always known that I could get back up again . I knew that God was standing right by my side and I didn’t have to feel guilt or shame. Your miracle is just simply a matter of learning how to stand up again. Of course, my greatest accomplishment are my two amazing kids. They are both successful and amazing kids. They’re in their 20s now.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me the most happy is being with my family. I love being with my mom and my two kids and having my husband there. Being able to celebrate all of our victories and celebrations and holidays together. What also makes me extremely happy is service through my church. I love to do homeless outreach and be able to meet peoples needs however that is whether it’s with food with love with a hug or ministering to them with my book. . I love to exercise and go hiking and be with animals, especially dogs. One of my goals in life one day is to have a farm and rescue dogs and goats and invite kids with special needs to come and work on the farm for the day. My ultimate goal is to get the book made into a movie . with the rulings and the money from both, I would love to. help start, daddy parks in Mexico. Basically soccer fields built next to churches to inspire kids to play soccer with their parents.
