Today we’d like to introduce you to Reed Birklund.
Hi Reed, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I spent my 20’s working in bars and I’d see the guys come in to maintain the beer lines. I needed a little consistency in my life so I applied for a job at West coast beverage maintenence and I was hired. I learned as much as I could there before working with a couple other national draft beer service companies.
When 2020 hit like everyone else the future was uncertain. My industry I spent 10 years working in had gone away.
I stayed home with family for the first month and then my phone began to ring! Customers and friends were reaching out with remodels, new projects, and existing ones were back on track. So I decided to file for an LLC and start my own company. June 19th 2020 Redesign Draft was born.
We started with no money, a handful of parts, and tubing and an 09 honda civic. I worked and worked and worked. We took off like a rocket. within our first year we were selected to install beverage equipment at snapdragon stadium. Since then we have continued to grow and now work with most of the redtaraunts and bars in San diego.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Any lesson we gave learned we have learned the hard way. I feel at year 4, we have hit our stride.
We strart3d with the civic and a storage unit, and now we have 15 employees and 2 warehouses!
Struggles along the way have been covis, manpower. Shifting economics, and the general struggles that all small.busin3ss have to deal with.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We specialize in custom designs for draft beer systems. We have created some pretty cool tap set ups, that match the esthetic of the restaraunts and bars we install for. We have made Submarine beer taps for Encinitas Eagle lodge, a double sided butterfly for monarch in del mar matching their logo. Mandalas, industrial pipe towers from found materials for farmers table in Tijuana. Most recently we completed the beverage systems for Steve Balmers new stadium, Intuit Dome.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Tough question. I’m kind of an open book. I have 2 sons, a dog and a cat. And I’ve been married for 10 years
I have close to 100 tattoos haha, idk
